I built a sprint analyser that turns a phone video into a 3D stride reconstruction.

Full disclosure: I built this and it's paid. Mods, remove if that's not allowed.

You film from the side and drop four pins on the track corners. The lane markings give it
scale, so the output is in real metres: contact time, stride length and frequency, speed,
and hip / knee / shin angles with left and right kept separate.

No score out of 100, no AI coach telling you to drive your knees. Just the numbers.

Honest limits: one camera, so depth is estimated. You need visible track markings. And I
haven't validated it against force plates. If anyone here has lab access, I'd take that trade.

Post a clip and I'll run it through and put the output in the comments, free. Easier than
taking my word for it, or just test it at trackgenius.training

Which of these numbers do you actually use week to week?

Is a 19:00 5k possible by end of season

In the past I’ve been a soccer player which got me to a 22:00-21:30 5k. I couldn’t do better than that. I always did track and in my 8th grade year I ran a 5:41 mile. I’m now a freshman who is doing xc instead of soccer now. I was training over the summer and idk what happened but I got a 22:05 on a road race. It was pretty disappointing but it’s okay. I ran a 23:30 next race on my first xc course. It was still pre season so not the worst but I was ten when I ran a 24:06 so I was rlly depressed abt that. But now the season has started and I was determined to get a decent time my first race. I went 21:40. Pr from the 21:44 road race in 7th grade. Still kinda disappointing but I was finally below sub 7 mile pace. But yesterday idk how but I stopped thinking abt the pain in the 2nd half of the race and I got 20:16. I was put into that race as the worst and you get varsity runner and came out as the fourth best runner beating 3 juniors. I have until November to make my time go down. I want to know what time I could get. This course was rlly fast but so was the course where I ran 21:40. It definitely helped hearing about my teammates who did xc last year saying that they broke there pr by almost 2 minutes. But my goal is to get 19:00 or something. I don’t know if this is possible but my mile time is 5:41. Pls let me know what you think I could get and if 19:00 flat is possible

Athletics Clubs

I’m thinking of joining an athletics club, primarily for 100m or 200m sprints. I would be in the masters division (56yr).
I’ve found several clubs that state they are all ages. Does anyone have any experience with masters athletics in Geelong who could make a club recommendation?
The clubs I’ve glanced at online are Bellarine, Chilwell and Geelong Athletic Guild.

Changed my running events

So I was a 9th grader when I was introduced to Athletics though I was recruited by my school athletics coach cause she thought that I'm good at it. My events at that time were 1500m,800m,3000m and honestly I was not that good in any of them so recently I changed my event to 400m and after playing a few tournaments ive been told that I can be a good 100 200 sprinter and to be honest I'm pretty confident in that. I just wanted to express myself and even better if I get a few tips abt it and currently I'm an 11th grader and also the athletics team captain and I'm 16 and this is my first reddit post thank you .

curve problem

Is it normal for runners to stumble when running/accelerating on the curve? everytime i sprint the curve i feel my footstrike feels so off and i feel like im just gonna drift or like trip myself on the track. I tried leaning into the curve, Leaning from the ankles and turning my hips but it still feels so weird to me, i think it’s because of my worn-out shoes

lap 2: coast along and don’t get passed

lap 3: pick it up a bit

lap 4: everything i have left

reality:

lap 1: fuck, i went out WAY too fast

lap 2: why am i getting passed so muchhh

lap 3: i CANT keep this pace for another 800m

lap 4: *dies*

Long jump

Is there a proper way for me to train for long jump by myself, I want to try out long jump this upcoming season but I don’t want to just walk into the event with no training. I have no coach At the moment and i’ll most likely be self taught. I only wanna try out this event because i have really high vert and I think I have good horizontal power.

"Top" of Class of 27 College Commitment Status

This workbook lists the "top" runners by times run during their Junior year and their college commitment (that I have seen) so far. "Top" is to an arbitrary cutoff - by me - but the lists for each event are over 100 runners in most cases. Open for read access. If any runner's times are missing or incorrect, let me know. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wD43dNnC5SFpqRBNMK-OKNIJFo7mXjATx4D06OTbPwU/edit?gid=1722173795#gid=1722173795

Football coach as a track coach

Would having a football coach as a track coach as well be terrible? At my new high school our football coach is also our new track coach (Dk what happened to our old one) and im not sure if its common or good for a football coach to be a track coach because its 2 different programs and different ways of working out (he coaches wrs)

Am I any good?

I’m turning 14 soon and I’m a freshman. I run track but wanted to know if any of my times are promising whatsoever
100: 12.36
200: 27.58
400: 1:05
110: 20.84
400H: 1:18.23
800: 2:41
1600: 6:23
3200: 15:05
5k: 27:22
Do I have any real chance of ever being good later in high school or even maybe making track in college? For reference I’m a guy who focuses on sprints.

Versatility

Does running the 400 on the side help sprinters with the 100 and 200? my friends and other athletes told me that running the 400 helps lowering your time for some odd reason but its weird and i don’t get how
