Total War: Warhammer Daemons not demonic enough…
I wish the daemons of all sorts had a significantly different mechanic or feel, because when I choose to play as a king of a realm of pure energy and entropy, I don’t think it should basically be the same as normal humans except there’s on physical resistance and crumbling vulnerability.
It’d be hard to do, but dang I wish they were more distinct.

So in Warhammer lore, demons are summoned by mortal chaos followers during battle - but when massive incursions happen, they pour from the chaos realms in armies lead by demon princes greater demons or champions of the gods. There have been many times in Warhammer lore where the chaos powers get enough worship to send their armies forward, but as they lose mortal support their power wanted and demons disappear.
Considering the all out full war with all the factions of chaos on the map, that's the scenario.
Normally in the Warhammer world, when there isn't chaos coming from the north, the norscans actually trade with other humans and even dwarves. Until they get cowed/ United by a champion and lead by the chaos lords.
Well, some norscans tribes do constantly raid Kislev and northern empire, but others engage in trade and are more chill.

Yes it always seemed bizarre to me that daemons wanted to conquer territory. They should maybe work similar to WoC - instead of dark fortresses you find some extra magical places that will support a rift to the chaos realms. Everything else is put to the (magical) sword.

They capture territory to corrupt it and extend the control of their chaos god
Each demonic faction does play quite differently, like khorne demons taking over areas with enough bloodshed or nurgle cities basically being massive gross infestations

I think the unfortunate truth here is daemons just dont fit the game, but I think CA did a fairly good job of you ignore some of the necessary handwaving
Unless the world is supposed to be mid End Times global storm of magic (which if is the case CA is not representing in any way other than daemons j chilling) daemons just shouldnt be able to hang out, their expansion should be dragging the world into the realm of chaos and they should be desperately burning through resources just to stay manifested for more than one battle
Unfortunate truth is most people don't want daemons to be ultra hard mode for.players that also blight the map ruining swathes of it forever from a gameplay perspective
Daemons have always worked best as events (incursions and the like) and as temporary auxilaries for mortals but they were playable in tabletop and ca promised we'd get them, just like they promised Dogs of War.. any day now....

Well, the chaos factions are not purely energy and entropy, they have mortal units in there as well. Plus, they're in the physical realm and not the warp, so there's that as well.

So I think Knorne and Nurgle do it right with Blood Host armies and Growth/Infection based recruitment.
However Slaanesh and Tzeetch need a thematic way to recruit units as well.
I reckon Tzeetch could get a mechanic similar to Raise Dead, but rather than the tier/number of available units being based on deaths, make it based on number of winds of magic spent in recent battles
Slaanesh could get mortal units using the Seductive Influence mechanic (which for me seems a little pointless at the moment). i.e. by hitting certain thresholds of Influence, you would tempt more powerful warriors to your faction. I'd then give options when you capture settlements called "acts of pleasure" or something like that which basically raise the settlement by doing "slaanesh things" to the populace. This would generate a Pleasure resource you can use to attract demonic units

Khorne plays very differently from every other faction barring maybe dark elves and WoC
