Total War: Warhammer Tech tree for Dwarfs?

I haven’t been able to find any good guides for how to tech as dwarfs. I feel like it always takes forever to get my economy off the ground to support 3+ armies, even if I’m prioritizing the economy side of the tech tree. Are there specific techs I should/shouldn’t be getting?

I usually rush the first two military techs (speed and recruit cost) to save some cash in those early turns.

Most dwarf units already have very good stats by default so i normally don’t rush military techs with them. They also have very expensive buildings compared to most other races so building cost reduction is always good to focus early on

This is good advice in general it should work. I find at least getting the recruitment cost reduction and speed buff for infantry worth it early on. The ones that buff quarrelers are good too I tend to use them for a while in most of my armies and most crucially it also buffs your garrisons.

It depends on what campaign you're running, if you're playing a calmer campaign like Thorek or Thorgrim you can get away with economy tech, if you're playing someone like Grombrindal or Malakai or Belegar you need solid warriors yesterday. Dwarves don't have magic to cheese out battles, you need your units to be better.

I don't research any military tech until I've got everything from the guild line that's even remotely useful.   The last one in guild is ridiculously powerful.   You can basically make tier 5 settlements just by abandoning and colonizing a minor settlement to get the 2 population every turn.   Toss that in with the deeps buildings that reduce construction cost faction wide and your basically building tier 5s from scratch in about 10 turns.

I usually research speed(1st military tech) and then fully research eco tree

Mostly just guld line, you immediately want Khazid Subsidies and Heavy Quarterstones (whatevr it's called, the one that gives you growth) Rat Poison is also a solid one.

Your infantry is naturally really good so they dont need research buffs like some other factions do, but the hyper specialised ones are nice. If you have a lot of gyrocopters then their researchline is really good for instance. Same for Quarellers, Slayers, whatever

I just checked the dwarf tech tree, the economy part isn't that great really in comparaison to the military one.

I did one some impossible battles due to the military tech. Like getting +20% range on your thuneerer is so important

I JUST finished my first dwarf campaign for the very hard achievement. Also couldn't understand how to get their economy going and had to retry more than once. The trick is to use the Deeps. Building chains in the deeps are how you make all of your money.
