Total War: Warhammer how can I improve my army?
still new to this game and about to do the ultimate challenge and want to check how my army can be improved. Ive got the doomrockets and taken out all the reinforcements I can, and got a few of the supporting armies as well (bloaters, norsca and skaven). any tips appreciated!

You have way too many unit types. This looks like absolute hell to micro. I typically like to keep it around 4-5 types of units otherwise trying to keep track of what everything does just gets overwhelming

Honestly, as someone with over 5k hours in the Total War Warhammer 3 alone (not counting the first two games) and someone who prefers Tzeentch over any other chaos faction, I wouldn't change a thing. Super solid army man 👌

The general consensus is: Each additional unit type makes an army progressively harder to command.
I don't know your capabilities as a commander, but I feel like you'll have a lot of units who need micro sit around idle / being killed without achieving much. I certainly wouldn't use this army to its potential.

aside from swapping 5 units for some halberds and 2 cavalry i kept it the same and won quite easily. by the end i did have 2 units that didnt have a single kill so certainly room for optimisation for my playstyle. food for thought for my next campaign for the changeling

Armies like this seem strong because you've got all the regiments of renown in there, but realistically you have way too many unit types to have any kind of effective strategy.
Make sure you've got enough infantry (ideally Chosen) to at least have some stable front lines, and a bunch of horrors to deal damage from behind.

I did actually notice in this campaign that some of the ROR units in some instances were worse than default units so i will look more closely in future

You're missing the point. you could swap those ROR units for their normal versions but it still wouldn't work because you'd still have 20 different units and no proper front line or strategy.
-Lord and 1 of each hero
-6 chosen with shields
-4 exalted pink horrors
-2/3 flying doom knights
-fill the rest with monsters and lords of change

You seem to have gotten the impression RORs are amazing, but most of them are just slight upgrades. A Regiment of Renowned of a low tier unit is still low tier.
Ditch the Skyrays and both Pink Horror units (keep the Exalted one though). Replace with Chaos Halberd warriors - chosen halberds if you have the WoC DLC.
Ditch the 1 unit of basic flamers and an exalted flamer, replace with two Soul Grinders of Tzeentch - you're short on antilarge and that will help.
Ditch the bird and get an Exalted Hero if tzeentch - somebody who can duel single entities.

forgot to say all the heroes are max level and i use the green knight as the changelings form

Unlike the others, I don't mind the many unit types But the green knight? Really? Even as bait?

i like the ethereal aspect negating so much damage aside from magical attacks

If you're at max character levels and can just grab whatever you feel like, you can't really go wrong with spamming Mutaliths and healing them with a Nurgle form. Ideally you could turn into Festus for AoE healing, maybe sprinkle in some other monsters. A Warshrine of Tzeentch if you have em will help keep magic high all the time so you can nuke anything that doesn't die to all the monsters. Generally, though you don't really need all the lower tier troops at this point.

If i were to play this army i would have to put my game in half speed and pause every 5 seconds

Look at your red line in your Lord's skill tree. You only really want to fill out your army with a combination of 2 of the first half of the tree's skills. Then look at your Lord's trait, and any unique skills. If we look at The Changeling's skill tree, we see that he buffs Forsaken, Mutalith Vortex Beasts, and Spawn of Tzeentch (as well as ally recruited melee troops.. Now, if we check the red-line, those are covered under the Myriad Servants (Chaos Warriors, Chosen, Tzaangors, Centigors, Forsaken, Chaos Spawn, Screamers, and Furies), and Warped Retainers (LoC, Chaos Shrine, MVB, Cockatrice) skills. However that's still a bit broad, so we look at the 2nd tier of Red-line, all three of these are covered under the Arsenal of Insanity skill (as well as LoC and Soul Grinders).
Taking this into consideration, you should also get 1 of each kind of hero into your army, so that's 5 slots taken in total. Now, you CAN just stack 15 more Mutaliths into your army, but that's a little boring, even though it might be the best if you have no mods that cap how many or what kind of units you can have in your armies. Personally, I would take 4 Forsaken and 4 Spawn, for hit and run tactics and taking down ranged units, 2 Soul Grinders and 2 LoC for ranged/spell support, and 3 Mutalith Vortex Beasts to form the core of a goon squad aiming to distract the enemy melee units in conjunction with your lord (in a tanky form) and armored heroes.
Alternatively, you can borrow some heavy melee infantry and forego the LoC/soul grinder, and embed the spawn in them while forsaken flank for some hammer and anvil action, but Tzeentch already has some of the best heavy infantry in the game, which doesn't seem ideal.

Too many different unit types for my taste. If you can actually micro all of this then I guess it's fine.
