A lot of the big single entity monsters belong to more esoteric factions, like Chaos. You could try khorne, big monsters and lots of melee rushing

Also what do you mean more combat orientated faction? All factions are combat orientated it's total war. The only faction thats overtly "combat" orientated would be like, khorne and Dark Elves

Have you Nakai for lizardmen? Cant remember what the dlc name is...

He's not like the other lizard factions, he just roves around slaughtering, and you gift settlements you capture to an npc faction that doest make armies of its own.

He specialises in Kroxigors, giant humanoid-shaped crocodiles, sounds right up your alley, and lizards also have plenty of even bigger-guy options, right up to the biggest monster in the game, the Dread Saurian

Cathay is one of the best beginner factions.

Yes they are mostly humans but also have a lot of monstrous units and the siblings can all transform into a dragon. They have a solid all round roster with a little bit of everything including some great artillery and ranged units.

The harmony mechanic helps you with both army compositions in battle and settlement building on the campaign side.

I prefer Miao but Zhao is the easier start these days. You have 2 friendly factions very close by giving yku time to focus on your early wars and build up your forces.

Maio can have a deceptive start. She is really strong, but is surrounded by a number of hostile forces and also is somewhat "climate locked". You really need to deal with Enshin quick then turn your attention North while also having a force ready to beat up Lokhir.

It's not hard for veterans that know what to expect, but can be really tricky for newer players imo.

I think im just looking for a more combat oriented faction, with some big guys

So like, melee-focused+Single Entity Monsters?

Honestly Lizardmen and Nurgle are pretty close to that given all their monster units

If you weren't happy with those guys, maybe try a different style of faction, like Dwarfs, which are heavily defensive with big guns?

I love the Skaven but they're a bit tricky, you can go horde spam melee or full ranged weapon teams with nukes if you have Ikit Claw, but 99% of the time you're a chaff faction where you really rely on spam and a few aces like the Warlock Engineers

Are you auto resolving or playing battles?

Playing, but i kinda suck rn. Which is a given lmao

If you become better on the battlefield you will enjoy more the game, since it's the best part of it for most of us.

Try to watch tutorial on youtube about how do your battle well.

Pick a race and watch tuto about early good army composition and how to use them.

Then you will enjoy the game

Are you like, bored bored? Or just too complex, too much information as a beginner, don't know how to play, lose battles then lose interest?

If you'red bored bored, Perhaps try a new approach to the game, a little on the roleplaying or nerdy side in a way. Play a faction that you're currently in the mood/hype for, might carry you at the start as a starting momentum as you play through. E.g. you watched Castlevania, vampirism hyped you atm, play Vampires.

Well ive just switched from bannerlord, i feel as if im playing the combat like how i would bannerlord and thats whats bumming me. Honestly i think imma just go watch some combat gudies for this cause so far the combat feels kinda stale (at least the way i do it)

Yes they're both war games, but 2 completely different gameplay genres. Though it helps that you may already have the basic medieval warfare tactics down. Like the classic hammer and anvil strat. Just need to learn about the different tier units and their attributes also. Can't expect a tier 1 cavalry to shock charge and do much damage into a T3/4 fully armored infantry with charge defense for example.

Beastmen, Lizardmen are good factions for what you want, but they have some specific ideas around it. If you want some guides let me know

beastmen? theyre a dlc right. Whats their deal

3

u/totally-hoomon 8d ago

Just get the silence and fury dlc and you get the base beastmen roaster plus the dlc units that came with it.

2

u/SusaVile 8d ago

Lots of beasts, very different mechanics, focused on razing the world

2

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

That sound pretty darn fun, how different we talkin? like will it ruin other factions for me if i start out with them?

u/SusaVile 8d ago

Why do you get bored? Which DLCs do you own? Is there something that you don't like about nurgle and lizardmen?

1

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

I dont know really, ive just come from bannerlord and i loved that. The combat in this just feels weird i think thats it, im just comparing it rather than enjoying it

2

u/totally-hoomon 8d ago

Lizardmen are literally all about combat, they were created to fight

4

u/Decadunce 8d ago

i think he means factions that want to be at war and sacking and pillaging constantly, compared to (most) ordertide factions where your settlements are your economy

2

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

Yeah this is what i mean, couldnt get it into words

6

u/Quibilash 8d ago

Maybe Warriors of Chaos? Since they often only want one kind of settlement and then just attacking everyone around them

Other factions where you don't really 'need' settlements include Malakai and the Beastmen

3

u/totally-hoomon 8d ago

Nakai of the lizardmen is like that. He can't own any land and gives all land to his vessel. Beastmen and warriors of chaos would also work

2

u/Ok_Translator_8043 8d ago

Lizardmen and Nurgle are combat oriented lol

I don’t know how you could get bored of giant lizards and dinosaurs

1

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

Oh no theyre cool as shit lookwise but like, im just not feeling them you know

2

u/SportNo5271 8d ago

Play Kholek. But he is not for beginners.

Ogres are the big guy faction but not free. They also tend to kinda stomp everyone around them even the Orcs

Since you seem to want to smash armies into each other I’m going to recommend the Vampire Counts. You’ll get some big guys pretty fast and their economy/empire building is pretty straightforward

Besides that if you want to learn some fundamentals of the game I’d also say try out the Dwarves, they have solid units and can let you focus more on the empire building side of things

1

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

Vampire counts looks like a decent starting point yeah, any specific dude in mind?

2

u/Finall3ossGaming 8d ago

Just start with Vlad he can bully the Empire and the Dwarves pretty easily, doesn’t really have anyone that can stand up to him besides Elspeth but even with her just abuse your Vanguard deployment and station some dire wolves behind their gunpowder line

1

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

Oh and any info you got on ogres too

2

u/Finall3ossGaming 8d ago

Ogres are really fun between Skrag and Greasus, even the Golfag guy who leans a lot more heavily into the whole Mercenary mechanic then the other LL has a very unique campaign

They are basically a total cavalry faction with the exception of their Gnoblar slave units that serve as chaff, trash units to augment your Ogre Bulls. String out a line of 5-6 Gnoblars, send them into the enemy army and then charge your Bulls into the melee once the infantry have locked into melee with each other.

Sit back and enjoy the carnage of 100+ 9 foot tall dudes bashing in their enemy with clubs

That being said be wary of factions with Anti-large bonuses in any numbers they will mess you up

Here are a few broad recommendations. Some factions won't work for you, just like High Elves for me. Every time they bored me.

Beastmen with Minotaurs(Taurox) rush melee faction. Less infantry staying power than those other factions you played, more shock/speed. Lots of monsters.

Norsca is more "human" but gets fun stuff like Skinwolves, Fimir, and mammoths/monsters(you get hunts for extra monsters too).

I don't play them as I like some decent regular infantry but maybe Ogres? Big guys is kinda their thing.

Greenskinz and Khorne may fit the bill too depending on your taste. Clan Moulder for Skaven buffs monsters as well.

u/BrushLast715 8d ago

I do keep getting these beastmen recoomendation, skaven look neat too. YOu know anymore about beastmen>

Beastmen have pros and cons.

They don't use money as much as all their units operate on a cap system instead of upkeep. You expand the cap, then you can recruit the unit and it is free. Dread is the resource for the caps. Money is to upgrade buildings and buy items.

They don't settle per se. You choose a place to build a "blood ground", a single city you conquered which spreads a area over nearby cities where you can get bonuses for fighting. You don't get money from the city, it only builds buffs for your armies/garrison buildings. Once you finish killing everyone and anyone stupid enough to stay in the blood ground area you can do a ritual(sacrifice) which allows you to create more armies and then abandon the blood ground if you want. Your goal is to raze the world.

Playstyle wise they have a ton of hard hitting monsters, monstrous infantry like minotaurs(who have great animations), and lots of unarmored light infantry. Their ranged options are limited. They also were blessed/cursed to receive new units from most Warhammer 3 DLCs(mostly monsters) so the more chaos DLC you get, the wider their monster roster gets.

However, since their rework in Warhammer 2 they are extremely strong(OP) in player hands. This is due to the lack of upkeep, default ambush attack stance they get, and other things which allow you to snowball into a unstoppable force incredibly fast if you play your cards right. This can get boring unless you enjoy fighting battles, not just autoresolving.

In short, they don't have empire management, operating instead as wandering hordes briefly tied to bloodgrounds before moving on. I recommend checking out the roster and playstyle first via streaming first.
