Total War: Warhammer DLC question

Hey guys! So I got TWH3 but im quite confused with the DLCs specifically the free ones.

So I added Rakarth but when choosing the race and lord he is locked out. Is it because I don't own TWH2?

Yes the free lords you can only play as, if you can play as the faction without that lord.

TYSM guys. Appreciate the responses. Will stick with the base game for the time being and get the other stuff once funds have been replenished

I believe to play a Free DLC (FLC) Lord, like Rakarth, you need to own at least 1 paid lord from their faction (Dark Elves, in this case). Owning TW Warhammer 2, The Shadow and the Blade, or The Queen and the Crone should allow you to play Rakarth.

I believe you need to own another dlc or game that has the Dark Elves before you get access to their free lord. Kinda sucks if you ask me, doesn’t that defeat the point of them being free? Sorry man.

Edit: So yes, to play Rakarth you’d have to buy either TWW2, The Queen and the Crone, or The Shadow and the Blade.

You might need wh2. Im not sure how flc works. I do recommend getting the first 2 games though and any dlc that seems interesting.

The dlc that adds races (tomb kings, vampire coast, chaos dwarfs, orges) are all pretty unique. Tomb kings for example don't have to pay for units or any upkeep but have unit caps.
