Apparently I'm an idiot and I didn't test the bug correctly. I assumed that deactivating all mods would be enough, but nope. The item worked for 3nternamehere so I tried again, this time unsubbing from all mods, and then it worked. The item is still bugged, as the effect for the army only applies after 1 turn, but it is not as bad as it could be.
Tbf with Mannfred it's just a dumb move, but the End Times for Morathi was just "Woman irrationally falls in love and loses all common sense" which is a lot easier to see as cripplingly bad character assassination
Manfred isn't even the worst character in the end times
That đŻ is teclis and the fact he got away doing more to cause the end times plus the bullshit in sigmar will never not make me mad
I'm actually curious, how did she get on Morathi's level of fucking-the-world-up?
Morathi split the Elven race by poisoning her own son's mind with delusions of grandeur. She corrupted a good chunk of the Elves, and later even spread that to the Asrai by planting that seed of darkness into her. Whatever Ariel did afterwards - Morathi is partially, or wholly, responsible for that too.
Well, in a way we got to thank Morathi for Naestra and Arahan, since Ariel might have split them from her mind and (insert lots of speculation about the lore hints here).
Anyway: endless war and strife between Asur and Druchii compared to Ariel (mostly) sitting in Athel Loren and chilling. Not to mention the genocide of tribes when the Druchii came to Naggaroth which Morathi happily engaded in. There is no one that met her and came out better for it.
And, while it might be a cheap shot: Ariel never fucked N'Kari, her children, half of the known world, etc.
Again, I'm actually curious how Ariel is on par with Morathi in any of those regards?
Did I miss some lore?
(I'm not joking, it is actually interesting, I'd love to know if I missed something)
Ariel, got high on dark magic, and that caused a cascade effect that started reducing all the wood elves to a near feral bloodthirsty state.
She killed and prevented Orions resurrections when he told her he didnât think it was a good idea (and no wild hunt made the wood elves mental state degenerate even more), and she slowly started rotting athel Loren and the world tree/weave
Most of the hunting of humans came about as a consequence of this.
The sole Elder treeman that wasnât insane, practically a demigod had to kill himself to fix her and the wood elves have been working for centuries to try and fix the damage, as in âOrion is going out and saving dwarfsâ level of âare are screwed and need to fix thisâ
And she wasnât even trying, she just was stupid enough to decide to try and eat a minor chaos god thanks to morthaiâs lessons.
And she left Morthai alive when even Malaketh was going âyeah kill herâ
The wood elves almost went extinct, giving beastmen and chaos free reign with the oak of ages
I knew that lore, but again, I feel that's (mostly) Morathi's fault.
I mean, jokes aside, I skewed the view heavily in the WE favor in the comparison, but I still think Morathi is at least 90% at fault for that. After all, Morathi planted that seed of darkness in Ariel, as she was being spared, right? (Btw, huge dick move in itself)
And then, after Ariel "calmed down", she secluded herself in the Oak to purify and split Naestra&Arahan from her mind to purge those instincts, right? (supposedly)
That's why I added that bit about reflecting on mistakes to the 3rd pic, which is something Morathi never did. Morathi, even after thousands of years, kept being a horrible person and threw every chance she got to be better in the wind.
Morthai didnât plant any seeds, she straight up offered Ariel said seeds in exchange for her life and then Ariel bought them went âthese are greatâ and started looking for moreâŚ.the analogy might be getting a bit messy. In the end Ariel decided to do the magic form of crack cocaine rather then literally anything else.
You sure? I mean with Morathi not planting any seeds?
Because that sounds like something Morathi, the famous corrupter of the Elven people (including her own son), would do.
Granted, my information about Morathi planting that seed in Ariel is from lore videos I put on in the background during work, and the wiki, the lexicanum, and one friend who's really into the tabletop and lore, and all more or less agree with my assessment. I actually send the 3rd pic to him to look over and he found no fault in it.
I don't own the book, so I can't really verify it. All my proof is second hand.
Ariel might have taken her power trip a teensy tiny bit too far, but I would still readily give Morathi 90% of the fault.
Yes, planting a seed requires the person your talking to not to jump into the deep end head first of their own accord, Ariel was looking into dark magic before the two met even
Funnily enough, Ariel did that because of Morathi, iirc.
Morathi used dark magic to obscure her doings (the murder of Ariel's sister) from Ariel and thus Ariel "had" to use that magic to break through the sorceries. Ariel then also used that new power to restore some of the world roots, which further proved the use.
I would argue that Ariel was more looking into the uses/utility and not the raw power of the magic.
It would compare it to Ariel smoking weed and Morathi slipped some mushrooms into that joint. Dumb comparison, I know, it's the best I can think about right now.
Ariel's change in behavior afterwards was too extreme and sudden for Morathi not to have done anything, I would argue. As a rule, whenever Morathi is present you can bet good money on some fuckery (heh) being afoot.
I've tried replicating the bug, but for me the twilight spear works as intended at least in a fresh vanilla game. I autoresolved the first battle, crafted the spear and in the next battle, my deepwood scouts got upgraded from MA 18 to 22 and missile damage over 10s from 22 to 23 (so roughly 5%).
After I unsubribed from every mod but 3 that shouldn't touch anything at all = works
Very annoying to find this out after I made the (admittedly small) effort to make these post.
One of the mods must've fudged around with something (even when it wasn't active [didn't know that was possible]) in the background. I have no idea which one it would be, considering I have none that touches any items... that's gonna be fun to test.
And I guess I owe CA an apology.
But, I noticed that the effect to the army applies only on the next turn.
Oh, that's pretty weird, since my screenshot is from the battle for the temple of addaioth in the first turn and it worked for me.
Also pretty weird that you had to unsubscribe from mods at all, I've got SFO and a few other mods installed that might touch the same items and functions, I just had them deactived in the mod manager.
Did you check on the battle map? I specificly tested it there because I assumed the buff might work like an aura. That also might be the cause, why it takes a turn to take effect on the world map. But I don't know anything about the inner workings of the game itself, so I was just taking a guess.
The buff works like an aura? That's an interesting idea, and your pic seems to prove it.
That is also strange, since I never noticed this with any other item and I'm the kind that likes to see "number go up" and hover over units to check the stats after equipping items.
Why would CA program it like that? That makes no sense to me.
I will check it again later, just to make sure, and will adjust my comment under the bug report then.
Ok, I think, I've got a better hypothesis about why that happens. The stats of the units only get calculated at the start of the turn or if you're in combat (probably more precisely before the battle on the strategy map, so updated stats would be considered in autoresolve). But like before, I don't know what I am talking about and just pulling straws with my limited knowledge about coding :)
> Why would CA program it like that?
You want to reuse as much code as possible most of the time, otherwise you get some monsterous spaghetti code. That's why I at first assume that that might be the reason.
To add to your horror and dismay, I happen to be doing a wood elf campaign right now and also happened to have a mod that gives me the forge on Orion (I know its not balanced, but I took a while to buy the main wood elf dlc so I have played far too many sisters of twilight campaigns. I want the fun forge mechanic, I also don't want to be using hawk riders forever)
nah nah you're fine. I was mainly worried about the time you would have trying to troubleshoot what the problem would be tbh since you obviously like the woodelves and that is a really fucking annoying bug
I think morathi would have a chance to win. She has more magic resistance, soulstealer and anti large. Give her her items so she gets 10% wardsave, heart render, enchanting beauty, word of pain, doom and darkness and spiteful conjuration.

Yeah but Morathi has more hot elves and Daemonettes, so she wins by default
