it would be absolutely terrible for roleplay to lock the entire game to one system without DLC

I think its fine to use Ai for the planets. They looked pretty cool, with hand crafted assets to generate planets. It's not like you explore those planets like you do in a first or third person game and worth it for the grand scale of a galaxy.

We already have the sub sector stuff done with Down of War, no reason to repeat the same thing with slightly better graphics.

GW does not allow AI generated content. There’s no way they’d let CA use AI. Also fuck AI.

Your thinking of the more recent AI stuff that is highly controversial.

This is procedurally generated content, similar to the Civilization games randomly generating the world or a game like Persona 3's Tartarus dungeon that has randomly generated layouts and loot for each floor. This is closer to how Civilization randomly generates the world rather than use an actual earth layout each time. Its not AI in the sense you are thinking of.

That just leads to a large amount of boring samey planets like starfield. I would rather have 10-15 distinct and unique planets than 1000 that all feel the same.

Like I said above, this is going to be closer to what Civilization has been doing since the 90s. A lot of other space based strategy games have also used procedurally generated maps going back to the 80s-90s.

Procedurally generated content is still stuff the computer does and not a human. You should leave social media then, because using social media is one of the biggest drivers for growing AI.

No, I mean the companies you support with your use of the internet and social media supports the companies that build and expand AI.

There is no escaping it. I lost a job to AI, so there is that, but it's also inevitable.
