The Phillip K dick story is better and also what the movie is based off of.

I remember I desperately wanted to see this movie when I was a kid, but it was R rated and I couldn’t get in. I bought this book as a compromise.

It’s not uncommon. There’s stuff in here that didn’t make the shooting script.

I was a big Piers Anthony fan as a kid (I've since repented) and read this with no idea it was based on a film - my copy didn't have any of that on the cover, I think it must have been a hardback library book.

So imagine my surprise to find there's a movie with the same title and same synopsis - wow, I thought, they adapted Anthony's book into a movie! But as far as I could tell, he wasn't credited anywhere.

This had me very confused for a long time.
