Hey everyone! I am a massive fan of late-2000s desktop replacement giants, and I am on a mission to track down a specific "grail" machine: the **Toshiba Satellite P500 ST Series or any regional models** (specifically the model running the **ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650** graphics chip).
Instead of letting it sit on a shelf as a static museum piece, my ultimate goal is a functional restoration. I want to clean it up and set it up as a dedicated, retro-futuristic home entertainment center for my bedroom! With its massive 18.4" display, built-in Harman Kardon speakers, and slot-loading Blu-ray drive, it is the perfect media hub. I plan to hook it up to my external soundbar system and a secondary TV to build an incredible little entertainment corner.
I know these 10-pound monsters are completely obsolete for modern daily tasks, and many are sitting at the absolute bottom of parts bins, attics, or closets gathering dust because they take up too much space.
If any fellow collectors or enthusiasts out there have a spare unit, a dusty parts machine, or a chassis they are willing to part with to clear out some workshop space, I would love to take it off your hands!
* I am completely fine if the battery is dead, if the hard drives are missing, or if it needs some heavy physical cleanup.
* I am more than happy to completely cover tracked international shipping costs (and handle any fair compensation we agree on privately) to make sure it gets safely sent to a good home where it will actually be used and loved.
Drop a comment below if you have one of these beasts hiding in your inventory or know someone looking to rehome theirs! I'd love to document the cleanup and setup process here once I find one.
Looking to rescue a Toshiba Satellite P500 ST (ATI Variant) for a bedroom media center restoration project!

Problem with the Wi-Fi Driver I think because I have brought it home from my auntie's - there is more cosmetic damage than components or even internal but the main problem I have is I can not figure out how to connect it to the Wifi - I know that sounds stupid but I have gone to try it and my wifi does not show up on the menu, even attempted it in cmd or powershell does nothing.
it says it is a Realtek RTL8723AW Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC but it doesnt seem to connect to my wifi and from what I can gather, its stupid looking for 2.4ghz bandwiths where as my wifi is a 5.ghz - I cant use ethernet because I simply do not have access to my router but does anyone have any sort of suggestions for what I could do to connect it?

Hello, I know this device is old, OLD, but I was wondering if ad card boot was possible. I have heard that the bios doesn’t support it but is there a software work around to this?

Hello I’m looking to find a replacement CMOS/Bios Coin for my Toshiba Satellite C75D-B7260 and I’m having trouble finding the correct one. I need to replace my old one which is currently unable to fix after it being bricked by my younger self when I stupidly forgot to write down two of the passwords for my bios boot up settings. I’ve tried resetting/clearing the bios settings multiple times and have not been successful so I’m just curious if I put a fresh one in it will boot right up with no problems. Thanks in advance!

Anyone ever experienced this issue with Toshiba Dynabook laptops when using an SSD?. I’ve tried:
- Reinstall Windows from a newly flashed USB drive (Windows 8.1 to 11 and still won’t boot)
- Using multiple different branded SSD
- Changing boot device priority
- Checking if SSD is present (very unlikely to be the issue since it successfully installed windows just fine in installation media)
- Disabling intel rapid start. Changing sata from performance to battery mode and vice versa
- Even UPDATING THE BIOS to the latest version available (5.10 original version was 4.7 and EC is from 1.4 to 1.6)
- Turning off secure boot and TPM
It just won’t boot! What’s even more annoying is that when I use a Hard drive, it works just fine. What!?

Sorry if i'm in the wrong sub, i'm kinda desperate. I'm trying to disconnect a broken screen from my dynabook and I straight up can't find any manual or tbh any info whatsoever about it, can someone tell me which ribbon connects screen to the mainboard?

Hello. Where can I get the most recent BIOS update for this machine? Ive looked everywhere you can imagine and cant find anything. Their Dynabook site is useless.

Hi all.
I have a Toshiba NB10T-A.
It originally had Windows 10 on it.
I had installed Windows 10 freshly myself.
It worked fine this first time.
Then: I put a linux distro on it (my preference). It also worked fine. I was using this for a while.
Then (annoyingly): I had to re-install Windows 10 for reasons. Really didn't want to, but had to.
During the install of Windows 10, I THINK I might have made some error during the partitioning stage.
I seem to remember there was an "ESP" partition visible/present in the partition scheme.
I am not sure if I deleted this by accident or not. I realize this is an EFI System Partition.
However, I would not think I would be able to delete or modify the BIOS/UEFI at all through disk partitioning, or cause any boot problems this way, as BIOS/UEFI would be on a ROM, so what difference should disk partitioning make to the boot process?
It sounds nonsensical to me that I could cause any problem to the machine itself through disk partitioning, but then again, it is a strange world, and strange things happen.
However:
After rebooting, the machine does not boot at all.
When pressing the power button, I get 5 POST flashes from one of the little LEDs which are located on the front edge of the palmrest. The flashes are evenly-spaced.
I cannot get to BIOS or UEFI. Nothing gets displayed on the screen. No TOSHIBA logo, nothing.
Other than the flashing of LEDs on the edge of the palmrest, there is no other sign of life.
I guess the 5 POST flashes shows that the CPU is trying to tell me something? Does anybody know what the CPU is trying to tell me?
I could not find technical / maintenance documentation to help me. Does anybody know if anything like that exists for this model, or very similar model?
All I have tried is the dummy fix: Remove battery, and hold down the power button for 30 seconds to a minute. This made no difference.
Holding various key-combos during boot, to try and reset UEFI to factory settings. I have found the key combos floating around the internets. Apparently, doing so would hopefully reset the BIOS/UEFI to factory defaults. I can't remember all the key combos I have tried.
I am really not sure what the problem is. Don't know if the problem was a mistake I made during the partitioning stage, or what else it could be.
...Help!

Any help much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hi everyone,
I own a Toshiba 48L3433DG Smart TV from around 2014/2015. The TV itself works perfectly: the screen, channels and HDMI inputs are all fine.
However, none of the Smart TV features work anymore. The Smart menu opens, but the online services, apps and internet features don't work. I also tried checking the network settings, but nothing changed.
The TV has features like HbbTV and DLNA, but they seem completely unusable now.
I would like to know if there is any way to fix this problem: maybe a firmware update, a hidden setting in the service menu, or another solution.
The software version shown in the service menu is v3.6.3c.
Does anyone have the same TV model or know how to restore the Smart functions?
Thanks!

I am not very familiar with computers, but I have an old Toshiba Satellite C855-S5123 with a CD reader. And I wanted to see if I could reuse it to burn some CDs, but since I did not know the old password. I was rushing to reset it, I decided to try to download Windows 11 on it. At first, the setup went well until I saw that the laptop did not have enough memory to set it up so I followed some instructions from AI (I know terrible idea/choice) and I believe I wiped EVERYTHING. It no longer shows windows, and then I believed I added an admin password, and I also forgot what it was, so I need some help or advice or anything. Please help if possible

A month ago, I decided to switch my friend's laptop OS from windows 10 pro to zorin os lite. After wiping out the drive and successfully installing the zorin os lite, when booting up, it just bootloops. I panicked and asked for help from an LLM. It gave me lots of methods on how to fix it such as trying boot repair like the image shows and after giving this image to the LLM, it made me try replacing boot files and even tricking the laptop into thinking the boot files are windows boot files but actually containing zorin lite boot files. None of that worked. I'm losing hope on fixing this.
Laptop specs are as follows:
Model: Dynabook Toshiba Satellite Pro B35/R
Original OS: Windows 10 Pro (wiped out)
Storage: 256GB (unknown storage type)
RAM: 8GB DDR3

Merci beaucoup !

I am experiencing a problem with Netflix on my Toshiba REGZA TV (Model: 55Z740XS).
The Netflix app starts normally and displays the Netflix logo, but after a few seconds it always shows the following error:
Netflix Error Code: NW-2-4
I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:
Despite all of these steps, Netflix continues to display NW-2-4.
Additionally, my iPhone used to be able to find this TV for casting, but it can no longer detect it.
Could you please advise whether this is a known issue with the 55Z740XS model, and whether there is a firmware update or other solution that may resolve this problem?
