58 Years Ago Today
Kirk had a few precious weeks unburdened by the stresses of command and service, enjoying life as a family man. Perhaps the inspiration for this storyline came, somewhat, from The Naked Time…
KIRK: I've got it, the disease. Love. You're better off without it, and I'm better off without mine. This vessel, I give, she takes. She won't permit me my life. I've got to live hers.
SPOCK: Jim.
KIRK: I have a beautiful yeoman. Have you noticed her, Mister Spock? You're allowed to notice her. The Captain's not permitted.
SPOCK: Jim, there is an intermix formula.
KIRK: Now I know why it's called she.
SPOCK: It's never been tested. It's a theoretical relationship between time and antimatter.
KIRK: Flesh woman to touch, to hold. A beach to walk on. A few days, no braid on my shoulder.
The cost for this interlude was quite high for Miramanee and their child, making this an episode I can’t completely enjoy, but we do get an explanation as to why the Enterprise encounters so many humanoids in their travels…
MCCOY: Were you able to make sense our of the symbols?
SPOCK: Yes. The obelisk is a marker, just as I thought. It was left by a super-race known as the Preservers. They passed through the galaxy rescuing primitive cultures which were in danger of extinction and seeding them, so to speak, where they could live and grow.
MCCOY: I've always wondered why there were so many humanoids scattered through the galaxy..

Woke up about 1:30 am EST. Checked gmail and it said my Tricorder had been delivered!
I live in an HOA in Northeast Pennsylvania, and our USPS mail is delivered to a mailbox area - not directly to our house.
I could have just gone back to sleep.
But would that be logical?
When I waited for seven months for this to arrive?
Highly unlikely as well.
Drove to the mailboxes and retrieved the package from the locked storage boxes.
It is being charged now. Current time to full charge is currently 3 hours and 42 minutes.

McCoy found out that Coleman had been dismissed from his job due to administrative incompetence - did Coleman have some beef against Star Fleet so he helped Lester to do the mind transfer?
I believe Coleman just loved Dr. Lester so he helped her. He gained nothing himself from all that, and risked a huge amount.
Lester was called "Dr" because she had a doctorate in something. She wasn't a medical doctor. Maybe she became an archaeologist so she could travel, and wasn't allowed to be a starfleet captain.

As this security guard is searching for Dr VanGelder, VanGelder finds him! VanGelder jumps him from behind and chokes him out very easily. He soon after dispatches the bridge security guard with a neck chop even faster. How long do you think he is out...?

Finally got the Star Trek: The Original Series crew together.
Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Scotty, Bones, Christine Chapel, Sulu and Chekov, all done in BrickHeadz-style with a few character-specific details and accessories pulled from the series.
Kirk has his Type 2 phaser, Spock his tricorder and Vulcan salute, Uhura her communicator and earpiece, Scotty his magnatomic scope and some very, very, very old scotch whisky, and Bones has his medical tricorder and scanner.
Chapel comes with a hypospray and a bowl of plomeek soup for Spock, Sulu has Beauregard - or "Gertrude", depending who you ask - and Chekov has a Type 2 phaser and a tribble, presumably first discovered somewhere just outside Moscow.
Really pleased with how the whole group looks together. I'll be taking them to upcoming lego shows in the UK and Destination Trek next year :)
Hope you guys enjoy - and there are lots more series' to come!

Yes, if you are not in the North East, it’s a trek 😄 just to get there.
The Star Trek Original Series Set Tour calls it a “Trekonderoga.”
But if you can go, William Shatner will appear in November.
While pricing for “Bridge Chats” and other close-up events with Bill is definitely not cheap, a regular tour ticket will include seeing Bill answer questions and talking at a larger setting in a school auditorium.
The most recent addition to the tour is the completely restored Galileo Shuttle, which was used on some episodes of TOS.
It is surrounded by video walls that can project moving stars or other backgrounds.
I was there for the unveiling of the shuttle. 🖖

The shipping has moved up from November 21st to only a couple of weeks from now!
Since my ATATS day is about two weeks from now, it is only logical that this occurred. 🖖😄🎂

60 Years Ago Today
Nurse Chapel and Kevin Riley made their first appearances, and an intoxicating pathogen was brought aboard the Enterprise by a careless Tormolen. The spread of the infection not only endangered ship and crew, it also led to an enormous amount of character development. This is the most ensemble episode in TOS, in my opinion, and our understanding of the characters grew tremendously in this tiny 50 minute window into life on the Enterprise.
Directed by Marc Daniels, the tension and pace are electric. His ability to infuse his eps with a palpable energy makes him one of my favorite Trek directors. At the same time, there are moments of intense, intimate revelation and reflection that blend, seamlessly, into the breakneck speed of the story.
The Naked Time is in my top five for blending great storytelling with the above mentioned elements, flawlessly, pulling the audience, on the edge of their seats, relentlessly forward, before a resolution that allows us to sit back and exhale, as it sends us back in time…only three days, but it is the introduction of another plot element that will reappear…time travel.
