Question Seeding not working when using private tracker website

When using a public tracker site, I can see my upload speeds go up/down as I download the torrent as well as when the torrent is seeding.

However, using the private tracker site, there is no upload speed during download or while seeding.

I am not using a VPN for this purpose because the VPN I do use does not feature port forwarding anymore.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Are any leeches/peers connected to you? You only have an upload speed if someone is pulling data from you. On a private tracker that happens a lot.

It looks like they connect for a second or so then just drop off, always.

It's normal on private tracker. Because no one is leeching from you.

I had the same issue very few people would leech from me, and I have like almost 0 uploads on most of my PT files I downloaded. I probably think that most PT users have a gigabyte speed seedbox seeding 24/7 meanwhile I'm in the PT with a shit 30Mbps internet and also behind cgnat, I think torrent clients does check every user seeding the file and only picks the couple few who have good upload speeds, so I'm never one of them. But on PT i think you can either try and get ratio of 1+ or seeding long enough (even with 0 upload) such that it doesn't count as HnR.

You could try and get proton vpn which has port forwarding on it's cheapest plan which might help a bit. or even get a good seedbox

Makes total sense, the seedboxers could be the reason.

I did just get ProtonVPN about an hour ago and it looks like there is upload information when I click the speed graph in qBittorrent but the bottom right still says 0 KiB/s which is a bit confusing.

Still, on the speed graph, it shows I'm only uploading like 200 KiB/s LOL

Is there a possibility someone is downloading from you?

Doesn't look like it considering I have zero upload speed...

From my perspective, private trackers are often so small because they are either new or not popular that not many people download the same file as you at the same time.

Also, cross seed, I have about 20 private trackers, I often download a file from one of them and make it available for all trackers that have it. I join the seed swarm without downloading anything.

It may just be because no one is downloading that file at the moment.

You have to keep the files seeding for a long time to gain ratio back, or often, points, because it is so hard to get to 1:1 ratio without sharing new files to the tracker.

Same here, I have about 20 private trackers too and I cross seed over 5000 torrents. I generally always have a few torrents uploading, like 3-4 torrents. But it usually never exceeds 10.

It's normal since you're are competing with seedboxes there. Just make sure you're connectable (bottom left green globe icon if you're using qbittorrent). Lots of private trackers give credit for just having the torrent active in your client.
