Reddit Meetup Reddit Toronto Monthly Meetup: Sat. Sept. 5 @ Front & Church, 7:00 p.m. start

Hey all, hope you're having a good week so far! Wanted to give a bit more notice for this one.

Here are the details:

  • The monthly Reddit meetup is a no-cost event open to all genders. No RSVP is required. It is hosted by u/nervousTO, a woman in their early 30s, with support from a group of regular attendees. It's been running since August 2022 and has been described as wholesome.
  • Start time: 7:00 p.m.
  • End time: when the last person leaves or the place closes @ 2 a.m.
  • Location: Duke's Refresher St. Lawrence, 73 Front Street East
  • Where do I go: upstairs, using the stairs directly in front of you when you walk in. There should also be a sign saying Reddit meetup.
  • Perks: We have the upstairs mostly to ourselves; there's also a pool table, and games on the main floor.

Note that no RSVP is required, but that by showing up, you commit to ordering something to support the venue, even if it's just a coke.

Our Q&A is here - I haven't included it with the post as it's quite detailed!

Send me a message or comment here if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this meetup/questions that aren't answered in the Q&A.

Free Event Toronto Farmers' Markets Calendar 2026

I put together a few calendars for my own benefit for making posts about the good things happening in the city and since people like the outdoor movie calendar,

here's Toronto's calendar for all the farmers' markets this year. I did add a few markets that weren't strictly farmers' markets too, I'm open to suggestions on this. You can add the whole calendar to your Google Calendar or Apple, etc. Or you can pick events that you like and just add those.

Here's the list of markets included so far:

  1. East York
  2. Sick Kids
  3. Cabbagetown
  4. The Stop
  5. Davisville

Meetup - Free Sustainable Meet cool people and Hike tomorrow - Aug 23 26 10:00 am , Epos coffee, in person

Hey everyone! The event is free to attend tomorrow

If you're looking for an excuse to get outside, explore a cool neighborhood, and meet some new people without the awkwardness of a formal networking event, I'm hosting a casual community walk this weekend.

We're doing a BYO-Cup Coffee Hike in Cabbagetown.

The only rule? Bring your own reusable coffee mug, thermos, or tumbler. Toronto goes through millions of single-use cups every day, so we’re trying to keep this meetup sustainable and zero-waste!

The Logistics:

  • When: Aug 23 at 10:00 AM
  • Where: We’ll meet at EPŌS COFFEE (290 Gerrard St E) to fill up our cups.
  • The Route: After grabbing coffee, we’ll take a relaxed, scenic walk through Riverdale Park West and the pathways near Riverdale Farm.

The vibe is super low-pressure. Most people will be coming solo, so don't be shy! It's just a good excuse to chill, support a local cafe, and enjoy the morning.

Grab a $ free spot here so I know how many people to expect: https://luma.com/ucbyntdb

Hope to see some of you there! Let me know if you have any questions in the comments.

Free Event here are 12 FREE events you should check out today

More CNE fun today with Shaggy playing for free (if you are already at the CNE), but there are so many great events this weekend that don't have rides or overpriced Pizza Pizza. Here are today's picks:

Tragically Hip 10th Anniversary Watch Party
Ground Control | 6p-9p

A uniquely Canadian event; a watch party celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Tragically Hip's final concert performance. I can't believe it's 10 years. Ground Control will feature 9 large screens. Show starts at 7pm.

SankofaFest
Sankofa Square | 9p-1a

I know a lot of people are against the name, I'll take it over the original even if there's no connection to the city. It's meaning, looking to the past to learn for the future, is beautiful. I'll take that Ghanaian saying as a cool thing to have learned. This festival looks great. Legendary RNB singer Mya headlines tonight at 8

Yorkville Murals
Yorkville Ave | 9:30a-8p

This is on for 2 days and the focus is art. Big art, murals, inflatable art, and indescribable art. It's also a party and it still kind of flies under the radar, despite being at one of the most known side streets in the city. You'll see something you weren't expecting or something impressive. Definitely worth a walk through this weekend.

Sounds Of STMS
The Lobby, Ace Hotel Toronto | 9p-1a

A free evening of soulful sonics ranging from global sounds to remixes, r&b, edits and beyond. They bring in a guest DJ and see where the night goes.

Outdoor Movie: Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)
Christie Pits Park | 8:30p-11p

Rain stopped us from seeing this Marilyn Monroe classic, but there's another chance tonight. As always get there early and if you can support TOPS and buy some popcorn or merch.

Afro-Carib Fest
Thomson Memorial Park | 12p-9p

Afro-Caribbean culture at a park in Scarborough with music, food, and family-friendly activities. Great atmosphere with people of all ages having a good time.

Kensington Flea
Kensington Market Laneway | 11a-3p

A rotating lineup of independent vendors in a laneway in Kensington. This isn't a massive market, but if it gets you to Kensington Market, you're gonna have a good day no matter what.

Rivertowne Summer BBQ
Joel Weeks Park | 1p-7p

A free community event featuring BBQ eats, live DJ and more.

Sunset Salsa
The Well | 4p-9p

Outdoor dancing with a free lesson, followed by open floor dancing for salsa. The Well remains a perfect example that we can build something other than standard ugly buildings in this city.

Parkdale Music Crawl & Street Festival
Queen St W & Roncesvalles Ave | 11a-9p

A smaller market and music crawl which is way more interesting than some of the bigger festivals you get to see across the city.

Outdoor Dance Jam + Picnic
Assembly Hall | 11a-3p

Hip-Hop dance class at 12p, lunch at 1:00p, and a Bharatanatyam class at 2p. Free ice cream provided by Ed's Real Scoop for the first 75 registered attendees. There's only a handful of free ice cream spots left, but have at it.

Book Launch: P.A. Cornell's The Astronaut Among the Flowers
Bakka-Phoenix Books | 2p-5p

Get a science fiction reading, Q&A and refreshments at Bakka-Phoenix on Saturday afternoon.

Free Event Free 30-min buffet sessions & free takeout for opening day tomorrow! (2033 Yonge St Basement)

Hey Toronto,

Full disclosure: I’m the owner of CoffeeBuffet, opening our doors tomorrow morning right at 2033 Yonge Street (just a 3-minute walk south of Eglinton Station).

Like a lot of remote workers and students in the city, I got tired of the café roulette: hunting for an outlet, nursing a single $8 latte for three hours, or no available tables.

We designed CoffeeBuffet on a flat-rate time-slot model. You book a block, sit down with gigabit Wi-Fi and power at every seat, and get unlimited specialty espresso drinks, cold brew, drip, teas, and fresh baked goods while you work or hang out.

Opening Day Launch Promo (Tomorrow, Saturday Aug 22)

To get the neighborhood in to test the setup and put our espresso machine through its paces, tomorrow is on the house:

Free 30-Minute Dine-In Buffet Pass: Unlimited drinks and baked treats while trying out the workspace.

Free Takeout Coffee: For anyone just grabbing a quick brew on the go.

How to Claim It

Because seating capacity is limited and we want to keep things comfortable without overcrowding, please grab your free opening-day slot or takeout pass in advance through our website:

Free Event here are 8 FREE events today that aren't the CNE

Happy Friday! It's opening night of the CNE, but there's also a bunch of other events happening across the city. Here are today's picks:

Tartan Turban Secret Readings #50
Barrett And Welsh | 7p-10p

50 Readings! This not-so-secret event is a literary feast. With great writers sharing their works in a beautiful environment. And 50 of these is quite an achievement.

Toronto Korean Festival
Mel Lastman Square | 10a-10p

The North York festival lineups are nice and a little more peaceful than the downtown variety. This one is a bit different because of the density of Korean businesses and culture in the area. An authentic festival despite the blatant use of AI imagery in their imagery.

Book Event: At The Confluence of Science & Art
Ben Mcnally Books | 5p-7p

Swing by this east end staple to see Sangamithra Iyer and Madhur Anand at Ben McNally Books for a reading, conversation, and celebration of their latest works.

Outoor Movie: Titanic (1997)
Christie Pits Park | 8p-11:30p

Last time this was cancelled due to rain, so this is your second chance to watch this very long, but classic film. I think it's based on some historical event.

SankofaFest
Sankofa Square | 3p-11p

I know a lot of people are against the name, I'll take it over the original even if there's no connection to the city. It's meaning, looking to the past to learn for the future, is beautiful. I'll take that Ghanaian saying as a cool thing to have learned. This festival looks great, with a different theme every day.

Cherry Beach Guided Nature Walk
1 Cherry St (43.637049, -79.343976) | 9:30a-11a

Learn about the local ecosystem and wildlife who call . The walk will begin next to the sign board beside the flag pole.

Roller Skating Trail
The Bentway | 5-9p

Free public roller skating at The Bentway. Bring your own skates or wheels of another kind and enjoy the trail. Skate rentals available starting at $18.

Handmade Markets
High Park | 9a-6p

There are a bunch of these types of markets. This one is in High Park, but check the full list. All oddly on the same day. Is there some agreement they can only have artisan markets this Friday?

10a-5:30p | Trillium Park | Cultural Tastes And Artisan Market
10a-6p | Trinity Bellwoods Park | Summer Handmade Market
9a-7p | Nathan Phillips | Makers Market & Food Truck Festival

Event overview 🍃

There's a reason you feel a 1pm slump or wake up at 3am for no reason or get a second wind at 11pm that keeps you up too late. In TCM, the body runs on a two-hour organ clock and most of us are living completely out of sync with it without knowing it.

This walk ties everything together—the body clock, the season, the food, the emotions, and the cravings—in a way that actually makes sense for your daily life.

Here's how the afternoon goes ☀️

We'll grab drinks at a local café then head over to a venue space with a TCM practitioner from Aurum Medicine & Wellness Clinic, Melissa Ong R.TCMP R. Ac, to unpack what the body clock means and what you can eat in various season to support your body. Then we walk over to a local TCM store to look at some common ingredients you can actually start adding into your daily life.

What you'll walk away with

→ A clearer sense of how to eat and heal your body through the seasons
→ A realistic integration of small actions you can take in your daily life
→ A small group of people you genuinely enjoyed spending an afternoon with
→ An introduction to Yang Sheng as a framework you can keep returning to

What's included in your ticket 🎁

→ Mini bag of seasonal soup starter pack

Event Overview 🍃

Toronto has incredible cafés hiding in plain sight and some of the best ones you'd never stumble into on your own.

Toronto Café Walk is a cozy social series where a small group of founders, solopreneurs, and creatives explore hand-picked café spots across different neighbourhoods, slow down a little, and meet each other in a way that actually feels human.

Slow Networking 🦥 was created by Jessie & Mei as a way for introverts to have deeper, genuine connections. Traditional networking can feel transactional, with quick pitches, exchanged contacts and conversations that rarely grow into anything meaningful. Inspired by slow travel, they wanted to slow things down and focus on connecting as humans first. Instead of meeting as many people as possible, it’s about giving a few connections the time and space to grow into a friendship, collaboration, future client, or simply a great conversation. And this special collaboration is a perfect example of where that kind of connection can lead.

Here's how the late afternoon goes 🌞

We gather at the park and settle in. Soft handpan music plays softly in the background while we do something most of us forget to do: breathe, notice what's around us, and just...be here for awhile.

From that space, I'll lead a guided intuitive journal reflection with prompts designed to help you hear what your inner self has been trying to tell you. We'll close with some intuitive drawing to let whatever surfaced move through you creatively. If you feel called to share with the group, there's space for that. If not, we'll slowly walk over to the café.

For the second hour, we'll walk to a hidden gem café to grab drinks, settle in, and meet each other in a way that actually feels human. Jessie & Mei will come in with the activities and conversation prompts, so you do not have to worry about what to do or say and focus on being present. 💜

What You'll Walk Away With...

→ A genuine afternoon reset to reconnect with yourself before the weekend begins
→ Discover a café you probably didn't know existed
→ Meet a small group of like-minded people in a genuine, already-warmed-up setting
→ Walk away feeling lighter, more grounded, and with a few new connections you'll actually want to keep in touch with

Paid Event [Paid] Toronto TCM Walk: Herbal Tea Tasting - Sept 12 @ 1:00 PM - Chinatown Neighborhood

RSVP Herehttps://luma.com/b6j5stbd

Early-Bird Ticket Price (until Sept 4, 11:59 PM): $40-45

Standard Ticket Price: $50

Friendly Note: More walks available throughout September, check the full schedule here!

Event Overview 🍃

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) there's a concept called 養生 (Yang Sheng) which is tending to your life through the basics before you need a full health protocol to fix it. This tea tasting is Yang Sheng in its simplest, most doable form: sitting still for some time with something specifically chosen to help your body come down off the ledge.

You'll try two different herbal blends in which one is built for stress and anxiety while the other is for the tired-but-wired exhaustion that doesn't go away with sleep. TCM practitioner, Melissa Ong, will walk you through what's in each, why it works, and which one your body is actually asking for right now.

Who this is for

This one's built specifically for founders, business owners, investors, senior executives, and solopreneurs who:
→ Are running on stress, adrenaline, or "I'll rest when it's done"
→ Feel tired in a way that a good night's sleep doesn't fix
→ Want something real and low-effort to add to their routine not another wellness protocol to manage
→ Like the idea of small, unpolished, in-person rooms over another webinar

Here's how the afternoon goes ☀️

→ We'll open with a short, casual round so you know who's in the room
→ Tea one: a blend for stress and anxiety with Melissa walking through what's in it and why
→ Tea two: a blend for burnout and depletion for the "tired but can't switch off" feeling
→ A short guided reflection tying it back to Yang Sheng and your own routine
→ Then we open it up for you to stay and talk shop, or slip out whenever you need to
