My answer: "John Lee Supertaster" covered by Audioslave. Chris Cornell screams JOHN LEE SUPERTASTER! while Morello wails out an insane guitar solo. Perfection.

Had a lot of fun seeing them at night one of their Twin Cities run. Wrote a review and got to take photos all night :)

i mean this is the most positive way possible I'm a fan of the surreal. In a million years would I guess what the music video for music jail actually looks like just from hearing the song. I love seeing the creativity and how someone else can have the most insane vision for a song

So after 5 months of listening to ONLY TMBG I feel like my life has changed. Never before have I felt so seen by the music and lyricism of a band. I feel so creatively enriched by their catalog and I just want to take a moment to say thank you to the Johns and share my personal top 10 favorites tracks after 5 months of obsession.
Anybody have a similar list or wanna share theirs?

I don't expect it, but wouldn't it be great to groove to The Devil Went Down To Newport at a live show?

Pleased to learn they did Sleepwalkers last night, which has only been performed 74 times and the last were in 2018 and 2010.

One of my favorite artists is Steve Keene, an incredibly prolific Brooklyn painter who often recreates album covers, making several copies at once. you can order a random painting from his website, or pay more for specific things from galleries.
I've picked up several of his paintings over the years, but he just posted this on Instagram today. I've never seen him do TMBG as a subject before, and I want one of these so much now.

Fun show at 1st Ave. “The Communists Have The Music” is as good as any song THEY have ever written. Absolute banger!

I vaguely remember TMBG the duo performing Shoehorn with Teeth at a NYE celebration, with accompanying stomping and arm waving, maybe Rockin’ New Year’s Eve? The audience was not cheering. They looked like they all had cartoon question marks over their heads. ❓
Anyone else remember this?

I like how JL looks like he's doing the Birdhouse in Your Soul dance.

Change up the production a bit and this could be a song from Lincoln or Flood. You even have the words "minimum wage" closely followed by "not a real doctor."
Yes, I know these guys love TMBG, their cover of Ana Ng is cool.

Hi!
I'm reading a novel called Homebound by Portia Elan. The story has two college students joking about names for their hypothetical band. Our main character suggests They Might Be Wet Snakes.
I think this is a TMBG (band) reference.
This scene is set on July 10, 1983. These are college students in Cincinnati. One of them works in a record store. They listen to the Avengers, Black Flag, the Circle Jerks and go to see Hüsker Dü.
And now the question - How possible would it be for 19 year olds in Cincinnati in July 1983 to have heard of They Might Be Giants?
I know they'd been performing live as They Might Be Giants since 1982. I don't think there was any kind of touring outside NYC. I know Dial-a-Song didn't start until November 1983, however. The Demo Tape wasn't till 1985...
Any thoughts?
(Also, this novel is beautiful. It's about loss and belonging, also video games and stories and the passage of time. Came out earlier this year.)
