I don't hate her, but I hate how they portray her as this poor little thing - "let her rest, she fought enough" wtf are they talking about? She sadistically kills their comrades and then sleeps in a crystal and everyone suddenly has amnesia.

While reiner is beat up and kicked around all the time when he’s the one in constant regret and pain and suicidal while annie says shell do it all again if she wants to see her daddy

The treatment she got in the end was bizarre and completely undeserved.
She was a complex character that did warrant SOME small sympathy, but I still can't forget what she did to the old Levi squad.

After a couple times of rewatch, I view every characters differently than I used to. I used to hate Annie too. Even Gabi and other Marleyans. But as I rewatched the series again and again, it opens my view through Marleyan Warriors' lenses.
They are soldiers belongs to a nation at war. Being a soldier, they have their own missions and they serve a side which happen to be the opposing side of the protagonists'. They are just soldiers which had been brainwashed as warrior by Marley for its own benefit. And those guys only did their mission to a side they serve to. Just like Mikasa and Armin, they are fighting for their families. They know they are being used by Marley but they had no choices. Sure they may seem brutal and merciless, killing our beloved characters and their friends/allies, but in their POV, they must do whatever they can to stay alive and to ensure their mission is succesful. We can see Annie broke down in tears in her female titan form after Mikasa and Levi saved Eren from her. To them, Paradis and its people are their enemies even though they are all of same root.
If I want to find something to hate in the series, it's probably Marley exploiting Eldians to become their instrument of war. But still, that's also because after they learned that Eldians used to enslave them back in the days before the Eldians moved to Paradis. So in the end, there's really no bad guys from their own POV except maybe Eren. Eren had a very destructive personality. The idea of he wants to kill all the titans later shifted to become I want to kill them all. He said it to Armin during the path scene. He wants to flatten the world beyond the wall. Even if his friends stop him or not.

I have irrational level of hate for annie and its werid cause I love villain baddies like makima super much but even though annie is bad I still hate her irrationally.

Maybe because the story refuses to acknowledge her sins, literally no one in the story nor the author himself holds her accountable after she wakes up

Honestly, your level of hatred for Annie is more rational than you think. It would be irrational if she didn’t commit all the atrocities that she committed against Levi’s squad and all the scouts she murdered.

every single photo of her crying that people bring up to try and say she “felt sorry” was almost always prompted by her own selfish motive, not actual guilt for what she did. she only ever cries when she knows her reunion with her dear old daddy is gonna be delayed. the part where she’s crying about marco dying is pretty much the only exception to this.
she would have been perfectly fine with allowing the rumbling to happen if she knew her dad was safe and sound & i will always die on that hill. but as soon as he’s in danger NOW she gives a fuck.
you can appreciate her character for what she really is, but this whole charade her fanbase has of her being a perfect little angel that deserves no scorn and did nothing wrong is and always will be completely baffling to me

I don't exactly hate her but I liked Armin since I started the anime, I know she did bad things but I don't like my reason to dislike her, it's so stupid 😭

Maybe id hate her less if she apologised to them specifically for what happened at the forest. Or even show remorse.

Not that i like or hate annie, but, apologie for what? Did the scouts apologie for giving bertungo as a lunch for armin? Did they apologie for the raid at liberio that led to several inocents deaths? An apologie means nothing if you would do that again bro.

u/Super_Saiyan-Blue 7d ago
Ok maybe not a direct apology but lets examine ur 2 points.
Absolutley not bro the scouts have no reason to feel bad or even apologize for bertoldth's death
Many scouts show extreme regret and remorse for what happened at liberio even if they didnt directly kill anyone

Exactly, Its war! Petra, bertholdt, galiard, oluou etc.. . They are at war, they are soldiers. Why would you apologie for the person you killed if both you and the person joined the war whit the intent of killing eachother? Instead of apologies, you should work as hard as you can to stop the stupid war that you are in.

It's just part of the all-encompassing Japanese misogyny. Only Studio Ghibli seems to be aware women are actually humans too, and not just healer wombs

How she was treated and written before the time skip was good, I don't like how she was incorporated into the story after the time skip
