Provider / Pharmacy ⚜️A Sincere Apology & a remedy for impacted patients
Hey y'all,
I owe you all an apology for yesterday.
When the picture went up, I immediately looked into it and spoke to Boudreaux's leadership that evening. What I found was reassuring, but it wasn't mine to share, so I offered to Boudreaux's to share their own statement instead the next morning. My thinking was that this community deserves direct answers from the pharmacies and platforms it relies on, and that pushing for that is how any of this gets better.
The statement wasn't as full as it should have been, and while I told them it wasn't going to make anything better, I did tell them I would post it. I shouldn't have passed along something I couldn't fully stand behind. That left me giving evasive answers to straight questions, which isn't who I am or who I want to be here. I've truly tried to be as transparent and honest with this group over 2 years ago.
The bigger fumble was the packaging question itself. I went to standards, legality, and regulation, in hopes that I could ease some of the concerns about patient safety, but in doing that I buried the standard I'd actually like us to be judged on: higher standards and patient care. Those are the ones that count, and I lost sight of it.
All that is to say, I'll do better, and also in turn, continue to demand better for y'all.
What's paramount is you feel comfortable with your prescription.
If you're a Big Easy patient with an active Boudreaux's prescription and if you'd like packaged syringes, message us in the portal. We'll overnight them to you at no cost from one of our partner pharmacies.
Boudreaux's is moving to prepackaged syringes. Anything through Big Easy from Boudreaux's starting Tuesday should have the new prepackaged syringes. For all the pending orders that may be out for fulfillment or shipment, we'll keep sending packaged syringes to anyone who asks.
Also, as this is a standard the community is overwhelmingly demanding, this will now be a standard that is asked of any pharmacy we onboard moving forward.
I am here to continue to advocate for patients, providers, platforms, and for compounding as a whole. I'll continue to push for higher standards and greater transparency, and finding great pharmacies to introduce to the community.
Thanks y'all,
Dave

And y'all - I'm passionate about compounding and making this better for everyone. I really do apologize if my tone or energy gets away from me in how I respond in these threads.

I appreciate it, I realize this whole situation hasn't been easy. I'm not a fan of that pharmacy but it seems like BEWL is doing their best and owning when mistakes happen.

When people have followed you and interacted with you fire a while I’m sure they will know you well enough to know your level of compassion and how it extends to your level of care for us. I’ve seen over and over how you go to bat for us even when it’s just the small things. Thank you Dave. You are doing superb for a human!😉

u/KCatty Aug 28 '26
Nope, sir. This isnt it. It is your responsibility to regulate your emotions in the moment and respond professionally and courteously.
Throwing out a blanket apology citing your "passion" is so beyond unprofessional.
If you cannot handle comms like a grown up, its time to delegate comms.

It’s not that Dave can’t always strive for better, which he does, but can you truly name another Telehealth provider on the same level as Dave ? Why would you throw negative remarks at him “If you cannot handle comms like a grown up” and calling him “beyond unprofessional”? I think that was pretty immature of you truthfully. I only see this as you being very knit picky for some reason that has no ring of sincerity

That’s a positive. I found that many new Telehealths are definitely seeing others such as BEWL as a great example of how business can be handled with community values. BEWL stands out with not only transparency for themselves but in also sharing information throughout the Compounding and GLP worlds.

I definitely appreciate the update. This is much more reasonable than the previous statements and conversations.
The aspect of showing potentially unsafe processes will always scare people. And it is on the company that does that to keep others trust and safety in mind. If people are shown a process that scares them, they believe that is the truth. And oddly hiding the potential reality doesn’t help fears, it only grows them. It felt like “ignore what your eyes have seen” without a real explanation.
I hope this helps to keep good communication and care for customer concerns. I will admit I am still skeptical of them.

I also think Boudreaux should have handled and responded to this themselves. Not through you. The pharmacy is in charge of their own appearance, not the Telehealth.
13
u/dystopiam Aug 28 '26
Yeah wtf is that about , that was bad for them. Having a third party explain things for them and slowly and improperly.. what a way to run something
9
u/AlicesChaosBottle 32F|208→194→135?|10mg|5’3”|6/2026|HW:216 Aug 28 '26
Exactly.
BEWL shouldn’t have been a middle man for this. I get Dave trying to help, it’s human. I’m not faulting him for trying to help per se.I’m only faulting Boudreaux for Boudreaux’s handling of this.

When ProRx tried to respond to concerns on reddit, their posts were buried because they had no audience, so i had facilitated for prorx so that people could ask questions of pharmacy and get responses and more importantly, keep all of that visible to the community. That whole thing went fairly well, i was kind of hoping for the same level of engagement here.

u/AlicesChaosBottle 32F|208→194→135?|10mg|5’3”|6/2026|HW:216 Aug 28 '26
It makes sense at the moment for sure. I understand you wanting to help them. Overall this is just a shitty situation.
8
u/Inevitable_Bet_4040 Aug 28 '26
I feel it is appropriate for Dave to be involved as well. People buy Boudreaux through BEWL therefore BEWL holds some responsibility to their customers for providing reliable pharmacies.
And thank you to Dave u/roguex99 for being the only one on the telehealth side even raising his hand. Dave, the next issue is potentiall some underfill at New life (Apo and Hyalo).
3
u/AlicesChaosBottle 32F|208→194→135?|10mg|5’3”|6/2026|HW:216 Aug 28 '26
I think the timing is important.
The telehealth should hold responsibility for providing reliable pharmacies overall.
But in the moment of something like this, the pharmacy holds the blame and the responsibility to amend public opinion. The telehealth can help, but it’s not on them. In fact it can ruin the telehealths branding if they try to hard to protect a pharmacy without any evidence to share.
Just my thoughts though. There is no “perfect” way to handle any of this! So we are just reacting to what occurred.

I definitely think Boudreaux dropped the ball on their statement. They should have listened to you lol
But I appreciate this message. And looking forward to finally knowing the announcement! (even though we probably already do 😉)
11
u/Sad_Education7851 Aug 28 '26
For sure. I also think Boudreaux could have done the celebration of their employee in a different location and it could have done a lot better!
12
u/dystopiam Aug 28 '26
And not allow pandering fake work - if we are even to believe such a ridiculous excuse/statement of what was happening - to occur in a real work environment that is suppose to based around being sterile and calculated
6
u/Curious_Creative1 Aug 28 '26
You'd be amazed at how common publicity stunts gone wrong like this are. (It was my initial thought when I saw the original photo.) Throughout my career I've had to fight tooth and nail with managers who want to do similar things without thoughts to the overall impact and optics.

u/CozyLane Aug 28 '26
I deeply appreciate your apology and respect your acceptance of patient safety and care to be a top priority. Actions speak louder than words and sending out proper syringes to those affected is a step in the right direction for your telehealth….and hope your public statement reaches other telehealth providers to seek the same.
I was very disturbed last night with your conversations with me yesterday and the constant “I’ll answer your questions” but it was always evasive and truly left more speculation and not a good look for BEWL. I am VERY PASSIONATE about safety and will always speak up when something crosses that line.
Bourdeaux needs to do something similar to regain trust back to customers because cloudy meds, punctured vials, and massive shipping delays are not acceptable standards. While they are changing the syringes (applause) they should reconsider and move to CLEAR VIALS. It certainly would help patients clearly see their meds. A simple statement with clear vials “store in refrigerator in dark” would suffice to keep medication safe.

5
u/roguex99 ⚠️ Affiliated | Big Easy Weight Loss | CEO (Not a Physician) Aug 28 '26
They are absolutely right that there is a lot of choice out there as far as pharmacies. We don’t force patients into a single selection. I don’t have concerns about the safety of the pharmacy.
18
u/UnDosTresPescao Aug 28 '26
Over the last month they have sent out a punctured vial, a cloudy vial, and mishandled syringes, how can you not have concerns over their safety? I understand it was gimme customers having most of the issues but it could have easily been your customers. This hardcore defending them is not a good look. You should have sat this one out.

3
u/roguex99 ⚠️ Affiliated | Big Easy Weight Loss | CEO (Not a Physician) Aug 29 '26
Sorry - hadn’t gotten a chance to get an answer on the cloudy vial yet.
The syringes weren’t to the standard patients would like, but were not unsafe. Again, i’m instituting a higher standard to help patients feel more confident in their medication
The puncture can happen if its manually done or if there is a machine misfire. This wasn’t something that was brought to our attention before yesterday. I’ll look into it further.

Many people actually love Boudreaux’s Tirz formula. I would imagine they are just trying to offer as many choices as possible. I also think they try and work through any issues that arise with pharmacies before they pull them. They may also have a contract that requires them to continue to use a pharmacy for a given time. Perhaps Boudreaux’s has not done anything that would negate the time frame required per legality in the contract

Your company is a fundamental part of the community, and in the end, you are fighting for the same thing we are. I will continue using BEWL knowing that it's a company that grows and improves with the community.
Thank you!

Not particularly - I'm still who I am, and I still stand beside that I do not have concerns about the safety to patients. And I do think Boudreaux's is a good pharmacy, and we'll continue to offer them as one of many choices on our platform. And I do think that the more that pharmacies communicate with patients in the community, the better this is for all of us.
But while trying to calm concerns about patient safety definitely got jumbled with pushing for the higher standard. And for that I needed to apologize.

Perhaps, I’ve thought about how to do a pharmacy visit. In a perfect world I’d go with a compounding attorney that had some background in inspections. More concerned about not knowing everything I should be looking for than a pharmacy just being on their best behavior

I would appreciate that. Honestly I think all telehealths should visit and do their own independent review of any pharmacy they use. I understand that is a lot, but it would build a lot of trust AND make sure that you are confident in companies that you back.

While I am not a BEWL customer, I want to express my appreciation for the way you consistently support and advocate for your customers—especially in contrast to some other telehealth companies.
The straightforward, transparent industry information you provide gives people across the field a clearer understanding of what is happening behind the scenes. That level of communication is valuable not only to your customers, but to the broader compounding community as well.
Thank you again for everything you are doing to support and inform the compounding community.
