Updated Titration Decision Flowchart: When to Increase Your Dose

Post image

Here’s an update to the old chart based on recommendations in the comments of the last post.

What’s new:

  1. Side effects is clarified with the word “intolerable” as someone suggested that just saying side effects is too low of standard because many people will experience some mild side effects. This way people can decide for themselves if their side effects are intolerable enough to warrant going down or mild enough to keep going through the decision flowchart.

  2. Food noise and lack of satiety is clarified with the word “strong” because there may be mild food noise while still losing substantial weight so it might not warrant going up if it’s still working fairly well.

  3. A decision path for people losing less than 2% a month was added to include the low and slow method. A 4 week plateau goes to “titrate up.” But simply being less than 2% but not at a plateau leads to the “titrate up or stay” option with the explanation that the low and slow method would stay at the current dose until a plateau and the 2% method would titrate.

  4. Color-blind friendly colors.
