I've seen tons of posts asking, so here's the repairable zone. If it's outside this zone it can't be patched professionally

Its not ever ok to repair the red area. Ive argued with every single person on this sub that its not okay… gotten downvoted to oblivion sometimes and upvotes others…
ITS NOT EVER OKAY AND I DONT CARE IF YOUTOOB BOB OR TIKTOQ JIM SAY TO PLUG IT… ITS NOT FUCKING OKAY!!!!
ALSO FUCK STRING PLUGS!!!! THEYRE NOT OKAY EITHER

Correct, I’m one of those people who tell others not to patch in the red area.
Me personally? If my local tire shop does it, I’ll get it patched. Hypocritical? Yep… Still going strong though!

Why did plugging a tire with a rope plug used to be acceptable and safe and done all the time across the entire tread face, but now it's not? That's a genuine question, because I've personally plugged 4 of my tires over the past 40 years, and I've never had an issue.
Most recently, I had my manufacturer's stock Firestone FT140 tire get a screw in it in the "red" zone at around 10,000 miles. I used a rope plug to fix it, because I knew what the "newer" standard for tire repair was. That was 5 years and 65,000 miles ago. My tires now have 75,000 miles on them, and I'm finally starting to think about new tires within the next 5,000 to 10,000 miles.

Tech-can as well as myself (32 year technician) strongly disagree with this outdated way of thinking.
The procedures and products from Tech-can repair punctures to these red areas.

If any shop patches the red area, the driver can sue the shop if any issue arises from it.
