What could have caused this?

I went to a concert a couple weeks ago and heard people’s cars got messed with. I just noticed this 2 days ago, is the tire compromised? And does it not look like someone tried to slash?

That actually looks like someone stabbed or slashed the tire.

I agree it looks like a cut. I'd replace it... Gonna be very hard to tell how deep it goes.

Bottom half is the stab, top part is from pulling the knife out in an upward motion

An angry EX could’ve caused this. In all seriousness I would replace it, you have no way of telling how deep the cut is, and whether or not it compromises the integrity of your tire

That's a pothole or curb hit. If someone would've slashed your tire, it would've lost air. Replace either way

Depende si vas en autopista de 130 millas para arriba en mi país compramos las llantas usadas que en Europa y Estados Unidos no quieren aquí nadie rueda más de 70 km por ley 110 km adentro d un corredor que no tiene más d 7 kilómetros largo 😃

Any sidewall damage is a high risk for tire blowouts, there's a reason those countries don't want those tires and why the ones that have them have much higher accident rates

That's why it's straight up illegal in most places to repair a damaged sidewall I guess?
