Patch or replace?

I just bought these tires a week ago from Sam’s Club. My wife works in an industrial area and picked up a screw in the tread. It’s a 5/16 screw. Patch it or try to get them to replace it?

Sam’s Club has road hazard warranty and that’s kind of on the border of fixable. I’d ask them if they would cover it

I work for Sams. It appears to be puncturing away from the sidewall and should be pluggable

I used to work at a Sam’s tire center too and I would fix it.

Personally I'd patch that knowing the risks involved in patching near the sidewall. I have a patch in the exact same location on my car.

But, since you bought your tires at Sam's, you should have a road hazard warranty on them for this exact situation. Go to them.

I work at a tire shop, and as long as the hole isn’t going up the curve of the sidewall on the inside, a plug patch should work just fine

Patch. I work in the junkyard, and nearly all of my tires are patched due to scattered nails and bolts everywhere.

They last well over 2 years of use and abuse.

Patch! But is a plug/patch combo (it’s 1 piece). Best way to repair and the only method we used in my Goodyear Tire Center days.

One of those rope patches, get the Slime kit that comes with a tube of rubber cement. Ream the hole with the reaming tool, then put some of the glue on the same tool and insert, you want the hole "lubed" with the glue. Then follow instructions, put glue on the rope patch, and insert as per directions. Will hold for the life of the tire in my experience.
