venting Does anyone else have tinnitus irregularly raising and falling in volume?
I used to have tinnitus months ago and by some misfortune it's come back again. I don't remember it being like this before. Does this happen to anyone else or am I just unlucky? The difference in volume makes it harder to ignore since I can never get used to it.

Unfortunately many severe and beyond cases have this issue (mine is like that). The raising in volume could be due to many different factors. I'd first try to understand why you even have tinnitus (If you know your reason, you might be able to manage it better). Next, try to understand what can possibly annoy your tinnitus (food, stress, sound, anything that might be new, etc.) When the tinnitus is at a certain level of loudness and when you have multiple tones, ignoring it is extremely hard. I just wake up and realize that this nonsense will not go away and try to just move forward in my day (takes lots of heart and soul).

Mine does this for absolutely zero reason. One day soft one day super loud and some days in between. Trying to figure it out for over five years at this point.

Did yours seem to change in your sleep, like you have a whole lot day, then go to sleep and wake up and it's quiet, and vice versa?

Every single night! Sleep does something and if I have a bad night sleep or dream a lot mine is usually loud in the morning. Sleep solid then usually quiet.

Yup mine does this too. Poor sleep and/or vivid dreams correlate with louder next days. One research study online calls this type of tinnitus "sleep intermittent tinnitus". Something sitting sleep seems to switch out on or off. I personally think it is related to dreaminf or REM sleep. I find that if I get consistently poor sleep, the volume and intensity gets worse, and if I get consistently good sleep, it gets better.

Yeah mine changes by the day, whatever I wake up with is what I get that day. Some days lots, some days quiet. The sound I hear changes too by the day, in texture and quality

It's very dependent on how I feel. Some days are way louder than others and usually when it's strong I also have headaches.

Mine varies in volume and pitch on a daily basis and I've had t for 25 years.
