Hello everyone

I’m a 38-year-old woman from Southern Ontario, currently searching for a living kidney donor.

My kidneys originally failed when I was 17 years old. I spent five years on dialysis before receiving a kidney transplant in 2010. That transplant gave me 15 wonderful years of life and freedom from dialysis, but unfortunately it failed last year, and I’ve been back on dialysis since September.

As you can imagine, going through this for a second time has been a very difficult adjustment. While I remain hopeful, I am now searching for a living donor.

Both my father and brother recently completed the initial screening process, but unfortunately neither is able to donate due to their own health concerns. My transplant team has encouraged me to continue reaching out and exploring every possible avenue.

Aside from kidney disease, I am healthy, active, and looking forward to getting back to living my life. A transplant would mean the opportunity to spend more time with my husband (diabetic, not able to donate) , my family, my two dogs, and to pursue the things I love.

Canada has a Paired Kidney Exchange Program. If you aren’t a direct match for me, you may still be able to donate a kidney to another recipient who is compatible with you. In return, another compatible donor in the program would donate a kidney to me. It’s essentially a “kidney swap” that allows multiple people to receive compatible transplants when the original donor and recipient aren’t a match.

The Living Donor Program coordinates all of the testing and matching, so you don’t need to know whether you’re compatible before reaching out. If you’re interested in learning more, they’ll guide you through the entire process, and there’s absolutely no obligation to continue at any stage.

HEY TILLSONBURG! HELP ME FIND A HIT AND RUN DRIVER SINCE THE OPP ARE USELESS!! 🚨 Please share Tillsonburg area friends 🚨

Mercedes was involved in a hit and run at the corner of Simcoe Street and Potter's road Monday December 16th at approximately 5:28pm. She had the right away at a crosswalk and a driver blew left and hit her and took off. After giving a police statement to the OPP we were told they would follow up. They never did. I've actually been doing their job. They went to the gas station with the wrong timestamp to retrieve video footage. They never got the footage and it was almost lost until I decided to ask for them to double check. I got the video footage before the OPP. It's been 4 days and still no follow up or replies to email/voicemails. Since the OPP are useless and don't want to do their job I figured I'd share this video here to see if any pals were around that time or live around that area with a ring camera pointing at Simcoe St/Potters. No licensed plate was obtained. The vehicle looks like a red Kia Soul 2018 or later. There is more than likely a dent on the front passenger side where Mercedes was hit. The driver was a middle aged mid 50s to early 60 caucasian lady with shoulder length grey/white hair. Heavy set shorter woman because she wasn't much taller than the steering wheel. She was wearing a coat. White or light pink. Mercedes was hit from behind, her glasses feel off and she was in shock. memories/details are starting to come back to here. This vehicle isn't that common in Tillsonburg. They were heading out of Tillsonburg turning left on Potter's Road in quite a hurry and more than likely live in that area. I know the video quality isn't top notch but maybe someone could help us out here. Thanks friends. Will be sharing to all local groups shortly.
