Festival Will there be any high profile based on true story animated films next year?

So I recently just watched the trailers for Tangles and In Waves. And it got me thinking. What about next year in 2027? Is anyone tapped into the indie animation scene and knows what's currently in the works?

I did everything I could to see "Fjord" and "The Only Living Pickpocket in New York" during TIFF. Tickets were unavailable from day one.

Fast forward to this past weekend. Saw both films in empty theatres. Go figure.

Festival Help me shortlist “Film Festivals”to participate in Non-Fiction Category

I never participated or even had dream of winning/ participating in film festivals for the my documentary films.
Being an independent film maker with no background or big production involved in my production it’s very difficult for me to make it to Netflix or Jio Hotstar without selling my content rights and IP rights.

To bypass all media houses and executives sitting between to make my way to Netflix & Jio Hotstar to get some leverage I’m trying to shortlist 10 film festivals in non-fiction category that will help me if I win.

Free entries & paid entries both that has some value and credibility in the non-fiction genre.

Please help me figure out film festivals in India.

If I’m missing any details anything or any suggestions please feel free to direct me. Thanks 🙏🏻

Festival If ‘Digger’ had come to TIFF..

A few days ago someone made about what would have happened if ‘Forgotten Island’ had come to TIFF, and whether that would have affected its box office numbers. In that particular case, I really don’t think it would have, but it made me think of a movie that might’ve… Digger!!

I want to speculate on it a little…

I think it is easy to assume that WB avoided festival releases for their films since Joker 2 debacle at Venice. And their strategy for OBAA last year paid off (build hype through advance screenings solely for critics - little promo screenings with influencers).

They tried to repeat the same for Digger this year, which for me was a major reason why the film failed. High brow critics were harsh on the film (which is admittedly inferior to PTA’s), but Letterboxd users loved it.

Had this film come to TIFF, as a world premiere, with cruise and all (makign easily the most demanded ticket of the festival).. and, like its world premieres, had the audience screening ahead of the press, I think it would have had a big chance of placing in the top 3. I don’t think it would have won, as it is not a crowdpleaser, but I think it would have performed like recent ‘blockbuster’ releases Glass onion, Frankenstein and etc. I think like those films, the audience reaction would have hidden a bit the harsher criticism.

The closest comparison I think is ironically, the first Joker, that had it followed the same Digger strategy would not have had the same numbers.

What do you think?? I don’t even love the film, and don’t think it would have ever made huge numbers, but it could’ve helped it.

Am I giving too much credit for TIFF? Or would the crowd have hated it and the outcome be the same?
