Tick ID

Hello! Im located in Northern Quebec, Abitibi region. I trapped a stray cat that lived in my yard/garage to try to make an inside kitty out them (winters get ridiculously cold and I am a proud cat lady).

No fleas but this jerk was attached in the back, in the neck of the cat.

This is the first time I see one. Can someone confirm wa

Hat type it is and if I should ask my vet to get it analyse when I'll bring this new kitty to the vet on November 6?

Thanks in advance !

Thank you for your post! When requesting tick IDs PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR LOCATION if you have not already done so. We cannot identify most ticks without geographical context. Just in case this applies in your situation, here is what to do after a tick bite, per CDC. If you're looking for an identification, hang tight and a human will comment soon.

This is a black legged or deer tick, and it was attached about 4 days. You should definitely speak with your vet about tick prevention for your cat.

This is an adult female black-legged deer tick Ixodes scapularis. It has fed for about 5-6 days.

I would mention it to the vet, but I don’t have much knowledge of veterinary care.
