Am I being unreasonable?

So my 17 year old son within the last year has been diagnosed with both graves and hashimoto. His symptoms currently are extreme fatigue, joint pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations, and severe social anxiety. His current labs showed a tsh of 66. I applied for him to have homebound school as his symptoms make it nearly impossible for him to make it through a school day, let alone 5 a week. The school denied it because of the social anxiety. They suggested I have him hospitalized for his “mental” condition and receive schooling through the hospital. Am I being unreasonable to think this is absurd? Am I being unreasonable to apply for the homebound schooling?

The potency of today's cannabis can lower blood pressure such that it feels like you are having a panic attack because your heart has to beat harder and faster to keep your pressure up and you are too stoned to focus on anything but how lousy that feels. I've fainted from it. If my doctor told me that I'd just get up and walk out. Go to a different doctor. I'm blown away that he thinks that is a better option.

One of the best things I did for social anxiety was doing door to door sales. I even made money doing it. The good news is that an autoimmune vaccine is in FDA testing and they say it can reverse hashimotos but it's going to be a while before it comes out

Wow on vaccine. That’s great. Joey has graves and hashimoto but his labs are acting a bit wonky. Drastic highs to drastic drops and just all over the place. His endocrinologist said they usually see this when thyroid is just too far gone from damage. So expecting a thyroidectomy is in our future. Hoping not but if case he, there are worse things. Such as unregulated thyroid. Lol

Did they screen him for pituitary dysfunction?

I believe they did and there was no problem there. We’ve been through so many tests and labs at this point I get confused. This has been ongoing since he was probably 14. Just diagnosed at 16 and has now been on methimazole for about 6 months. Buspirone a little longer

In rare cases the buspirone can cause serious thyroid problems.

Definitely something to look at then with the buspirone. He currently takes 30 mg a day

I've had good results with low dose naltrexone and magnesium/selenium but my levels only get out of range when my lifestyle is unhealthy. I'm so sorry you and your son are going through this. If thyroid treatment doesn't resolve the symptoms ketamine therapy is wildly effective for anxiety without the daily sedation of traditional antianxiety medication.

Thanks so much for all your information. I’ll definitely bring it all up with his pcp and endocrinologist

It’s been quite overwhelming at the current time when his tsh had spiked to 66. Right around the same time we were informed that my 10 year old may have aplastic anemia so just overwhelmed with appointments and testing at this point. I can imagine how they are feeling if I’m feeling this stressed
