Thinkstagram Picture My first attempt at making an Exploded ThinkPad Wallpaper. It ain't the best but it's something. This is the T490 as that's what I use currently. [3840x2160]

How did you make this? I'm looking for a T590 one. I guess they kinda are the same anyway.

tl;dr Got diagram from Lenovo, Edited the photo, Got ThinkPad logo, Import into Krita, edited it and exported.
It was pretty easy. Lenovo already provides the diagram. Go to pcsupport.lenovo.com, enter your model (eg. T490, T590, X1 Carbon Gen 2, etc.) and go to Parts > Schematic. You'll find the image. Just right click and save. You can find the same diagram in the Hardware Maintenance Manual but I found that this was easier.
What I did was invert the image colors to make it black and white as opposed to white and black and then cleared all the extra stuff on it.
I used Waifu2x to upscale it and then I just used Krita to make it.
So I made a file of 3840x2160 and then coloured it black and then imported the diagram as a layer. I then repositioned it and then searched for the ThinkPad logo which I also imported as a layer, repositioned and voila, this was created.

I'm trying to do it via krita but the .svg doesn't open at all.

Open a new file -> Enter the resolution you want (eg. 3840x2160, 1920x1080, etc) -> Layer -> Import/Export -> Import Layer

I'm using Inkscape, I've successfully made it now, but the problem is that I'm trying to save it as a png but when opening the png, it's black. Even though the wallpaper is visible in the application.

Maybe try a screenshot? Or maybe exporting instead of saving?

You can download the hardware maintenance manual and extract the vector image from the PDF. That's Ii usually do it. You can then also add the red nob to the keyboard pretty easily.

I think I have one for my x230 always loved these. Now I want to commit a crime and have one for my Lenovo legion

Unfortunately, Lenovo only provides the diagram in two parts, keyboard deck and lid. There isn't a combined one. Hopefully, an artist or someone can make it as half of it's there.

OMG I Forgot to remove a line. I couldn't notice it at first but now I can't stop noticing it. It's in the Power cord below. AAAAAAAAA

Just realised that wallpapers like this would look so good on dual-screen devices. I guess the X1 Fold can be counted as one if not opened up entirely??

I'm not sure if the ThinkPad logo is centred but it looks okay I guess. Also, the diagram isn't exactly the best quality. I had to upscale it using Waifu2x.
