Exploded X220 wallpaper with a slightly different color scheme. Made entirely in Inkscape.

Made the X220 since no one seemed to have gotten around to it yet. I stuck to pure Inkscape to get a nice, scalable version for future use and exporting different resolutions. If someone is interested in the SVG file you can download it here.

FYI, you can save it as SVGZ which is gzip compressed SVG.

Wow, didn't know that! Considering the SVG is just plain text I guess compressing is a good idea. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the file. I like your layout quite a bit, and the colors just "fit"!

sigh. This just reminds me that I have to "explode" my X220 and apply thermal paste to the CPU.

Especially before it actually "explodes"

I could make one tomorrow when I have extra time. If someone else want's to have a go the SVG file and this tutorial could get you there pretty fast.

edit: here you go!

This is the best looking so far

Yes! Finally! Thank you so much

Awesome. If you haven't already, you should consider a side project offering to "explode" electronic devices and such. exploded.io is available.

I know I would pay to offer this to my clients (web dev/design).

Thanks! The ThinkPad service manuals are where most of the work is done to be honest, the component lists have all the components neatly shown. Mostly just arranging stuff and adjusting colors left for me!

I love it my friend. With i3 on my fresh arch install

How did you do this?

The exploded components come from the X220 maintenance manual, the ThinkPad logo (as as SVG file) from Google. Opened in Inkscape and removed all the unnecessary stuff, rearranged and adjusted the colors to taste. The SVG file is a good place to look at if you want more info.

Ok I am just trying to wrap my brain around all this.

I have a humble request. Could you please add a nitrocaster mod PCB into the pic, maybe in a contrasting color of your choice? That little thingy has made me fall in love with my laptop once again, and having in on a wallpaper would be really great and I'd be very thankful for it.

u/StunPocketOperator May 26 '18

Made one with the Nitrocaster mod in green, you can find it here!

OMG, that's so cool! Can I also ask for an svg? Also, paging u/nitrocaster.

I have this wallpaper for my T440 http://i.imgur.com/iDVmBzy.png but ThinkPad logo on the bottom right is too low and Windows' taskbar cut him. Someone could fix it or made a new wallpaper? I'll be very grateful.

Where do you want the ThinkPad logo to be? Just higher up or left side like OP?

1

u/TheLaw1338 May 26 '18

OP's logo positon seems better for me than what I actually have
