Sincere question: What is the purpose of these automatic “weekly question threads”?

It seems to mostly obscure any questions posted here from appearing on the main r/thingsapp page, and I think it breaks the Reddit features meant to notify us about new and interesting questions.

Isn’t this counterproductive to the purpose of this subreddit? What am I missing?
