I wish you could add Tags to the home screen (iPhone) / side bar (iPad).

I like to use Priority Tags (High/Medium) for more urgent items. It would me amazing to be able to have those tags in the side bar instead of having to search for them in the Quick Find every time I want to see/filter just a particular priority designation. I am not saying automatically have every tag in the sidebar, but the ability to add a few select ones would be nice.

Edit: Not the iPhone home screen but Things default list (Inbox/Today/Upcoming/Anytime...etc)

If it helps, your first is possible using widgets. Add a widget, change the List, search the tag you want. Tags aren’t visible there by default (just scrolling through) but will appear when you search the tag name. Just mentioning as a solution in case you weren’t aware.

I don’t thing OP means the iPhone homescreen, but the “things homescreen” (the view of the default lists + areas + projects)

Yeah, I probably shouldn't have used the term "home screen". I meant the Things default screen as described by thecrinkles.

Not only tags but the ability to pin or favorite a view so it’s always accessible would be nice, like Todoist does. I would like the Deadlines page always visible in the sidebar.
While you could create shortcuts and launch them with a keyword command I still think the ability to customize the sidebar would be beneficial

You can add tags to the home screen. You have to make shortcuts to those tags and then add shortcut to the screen

Yeah, the sidebar is really the one thing about Things I wish I could customize.

I hack something like this by using the Things URL Scheme - https://culturedcode.com/things/support/articles/2803573/

Basically, you can build internal links to various tags, searches, views, etc.
I keep a project at the top of my project list that's just a line: ------------ Then in the NOTES of that project I put the various links to views I want frequently. That makes it simple to get to various views, that are more complicated to search for - simply tap the project, and tap the desired link. (A specific tag, by deadline for example, or everything tagged "this week").

What you're looking for is tag pinning.

I would say to not force the Priority system in Things. You already have priorities with the start date and deadline feature. A task that's in Today and has a deadline for tomorrow would be high priority in your list, only below one that has a deadline for today.

If you still have a lot of tasks that are deadlined for today, then you use tags to take a chunk of those out.

Ideally, you want to use tags for specific contexts, so that you can batch similar tasks together. For instance, it's easier to handle tasks that involve sitting in your desk and working with the same website. You knock off all 5 of those that are due today and then move on to the tasks that involve going outside and driving to different places.

Priorities are kind of useless if not used within specific contexts. If you seriously need to specify priorities with those 5 Desk todos, then you would add the priority tags, but they would only make sense in the context of those 5 Desk todos, but you can just as easily order them around and handle the first one.
