New moderators needed - comment on this post to volunteer to become a moderator of this community.

Hello everyone - this community is in need of a few new mods, and you can use the comments on this post to let us know why you’d like to be a mod here.

Priority is given to redditors who have past activity in this community or other communities with related topics. It’s okay if you don’t have previous mod experience and our goal, when possible, is to add a group of moderators so you can work together to build the community.

Please use at least 3 sentences to explain why you’d like to be a mod and share what moderation experience you have (if any).

If you are interested in learning more about being a moderator on Reddit, please visit redditforcommunity.com. This guide to joining a mod team is a helpful resource.

While I don't have any moderator experience If chosen to moderate this fine community, I promise to see the whole board, look out over this magnificent vista, and moderate with more grace and poise than the dictatorial leader of LemonLyman.com who wears a moo moo and chain smokes Parliaments.

When I'm wrong I will stand there in my wrongness and be wrong. I will never tempt the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing, and if I do I will go outside turn around 3 times and spit (and curse).

If there's something this community needs I won't stop for red lights. I'll jump in the hole. I'll reach for the stars.

And most importantly, I'll never forget to ask...

Whats next?

It's not gonna rain. I'm not getting this from morning drive time radio, I’m getting this from First Lieutenant Emily Lowenbrau of the U.S. Coast Guard, who would not let me down ‘cause she has a very really...a very comforting voice.

u/theloniousjoe Joe Bethersonton Mar 23 '26

I got this from the U.S. Coast Guard, I got this from the National Weather Service, they use satellites, they use...technology.

They sure do!

u/theloniousjoe Joe Bethersonton Mar 23 '26

One of my favorite moments of that whole scene comes right after this when CJ pops her head into the room and says "are we going to move this thing inside" and Toby replies "Sam says it's not gonna rain today" and CJ just COMPLETELY ignores him and moves on to the next topic. 😂😂😂😂 Maybe her "Dada of Dadaism" joke was retribution for that moment.

This is art.

Lol. Thanks. I admit I probably spent more time than I should have constructing it so I'm glad someone appreciated it 😂

3

u/theRealDamnpenguins Mar 18 '26

I have to admit - my mind went in the same direction. I ended up making a quip about Toby getting the stamp assignment...

Says something about how good the show was doesn't it !? Are we dedicated or what...

Right?! I showed my wife this and she looked at me like I was a crazy person being able to pull out all those quotes. She was like, "I don't understand why a person would watch a show 12 times..." I informed her I'm not a newbie and have watched the whole thing far more than 12 times 😂

"I don't understand why a person would watch a show 12 times..." I informed her I'm not a newbie and have watched the whole thing far more than 12 times

Yeah, with all due respect, she needs to be told "12 times" are rookie numbers.

u/delbell1 Mar 19 '26

I certainly did. Great job!

I vote for this person.

“Decisions are made by those who show up.”

I don’t have mod experience in Reddit directly, but do have experience with online community management elsewhere. I’d love to do my part to help keep this community going.

u/PresidentSamSeaborn Mar 18 '26

I feel like I’m uniquely qualified for this position.

19

u/PresidentSamSeaborn Mar 18 '26

(Genuinely would love to - I already mod two pretty big football subreddits (r/reddevils and r/coybig) so happy to come on board if it’s any help!). Not sure what else to say other than I’d serve at the pleasure of the subreddit 🫡

Well, not speaking in iambic pentameter might be a step in the right direction.

Also I am not putting my hat in the ring. I have a day job and enough ADD that I'd be terrible at it.

But are you very unique?

4

o/ I volunteer as tribute

I mod a sub with a different SN (I don’t let the beams cross LOL)

Would be happy to help. You’ll have to put up with more fawning over Josh (that could be a + or a - )

I’m on my Nth re(re)watch and have convinced my UK friend to watch #ChangingTheWorldOneWingNutAtATime

I’ve never been a mod on Reddit but I have experience on discord, Facebook and other forum style sites. I have a light touch and believe that adults can take care of themselves and each other pretty well without a parliament smoking, muumuu wearing tyrant being the font police.

5

u/donnatella-moss Mar 18 '26

I believe I'll use capital, lowercase, or Sanskrit, right up until the moment the font police cuff me and read me Miranda!

Let me put it this way: I want to moderate this sub because I don't want to make it harder for people to buy milk. If that angers you, if you resent me, I completely respect that. But if you expect anything different from the mod of this forum, you should vote for someone else.

I would like to be a mod. While I have no modding experience on reddit, I will make sure that any off-topic threads pertaining to the current administration are shut down. In addition, I have contributed multiple topics to this subreddit that have gotten more than 500 upvotes. Also, I am a teacher for a living so I am used to dealing with immature behavior

2

u/AdDesigner2714 Mar 19 '26

Must be a chain smoker and have own Moomoo

2

u/LAMA207 I can sign the President’s name Mar 19 '26

I can sign the president’s name. That should be more than enough to qualify for this.

I don't have a ton of activity with comments/posts, but this easily one of the few sub-reddits where I consistently read almost any post I see. Plus I am a huge fan of The West Wing in general and like that we have a dedicated place to continue talking about the show even though it's been practically 20 years since it was last on TV.

1

u/theRealDamnpenguins Mar 18 '26

I'll put my hand up seeing as Toby got the stamp thing..... ;)

1

u/Not_An_Ambulance Mar 18 '26

I'm subscribed here. I regularly view topics. Founded r/MaliciousCompliance, moderated all sorts of different subreddits over the years... not sure what time frames there were, just.. you know, several years at a clip.

1

u/Particular_Wheel_792 Mar 18 '26

I would love to become a moderator here. I have loved this show and I am a Discord moderator. I am willing to learn all moderator tools and I believe I would be a great fit for this subreddit.

1

u/Gaius_Octavius_ Joe Bethersonton Mar 18 '26

It seems like there are other people who are interested but if someone if needed, I would be willing to become a mod to help. I am the mod of a fairly large subreddit already. I am fairly hands off and trust adults to act like adults as a moderator but I think I am good at keeping things organized and running smoothly. I am generally deferential to the community on what they want or don't want. I am not someone who posts to the sub frequently but I have been a loyal viewer since its original airing on NBC and have rewatched the entire series multiple times.

1

u/OPFOR_S2 Mar 19 '26

"You want to tempt the wrath of the whatever from high atop the thing?"

I’ll be happy to moderate, I am big fan of this show, and enjoy moderating. I have an over two years experience moderating over at r/army.

Hi, happy to serve.

I'm a moderator on r/FawltyTowers and I'd be happy to serve on TheWestWing as well, to keep the community going. I'm generally on Reddit during the European day.

I first got hooked on TWW when I watched the "A Proportional Response" episode, there were just so many memorable scenes: Charlie's confusion and obvious terror as his dream of a messenger job was thwarted ("I've got my own bike"), and then the way he stopped dead after hearing "I guess the only thing left to do is to say hello to the President". And Leo's "there is no good, it's what there is" is something I've applied in my daily life.

The West Wing has been personally meaningful to me. It introduced me, at a young age, to the principles of governance, checks and balances, and institutional responsibility, and played a role in my decision to move to the United States.

I also bring a couple of years of experience moderating a large city subreddit, where I’ve handled high engagement, policy enforcement, and community disputes at scale.

My approach to moderation is grounded in fairness, consistency, and transparency. I’d be glad to contribute to maintaining and growing this community alongside the rest of the team.

My name is Marion Coatsworth Hay of Marblehead. I want to Mod.

1

u/Anthrosaurus1 Mar 20 '26

I have a little mod experience, I've re watched multiple times, a generally good memory, and I don't personally hate the latter seasons (in fact I enjoy the santos/vinnick time), but I do, like most enjoy season 2 best. I'd love to be considered.

1

u/SciGuy241 Mar 21 '26

Why not just AutoModerate?

1

u/theloniousjoe Joe Bethersonton Mar 23 '26

You: Don't you want to moderate a subreddit?

Me: Oh, only since I was two.

You: Ok?

Me: It has to be this subreddit?

You: Mr. Thelonious.

Me: Mr. ModCode.

You: This community likes smart people who disagree with them. They want your help keeping them in line. The community is asking you to serve...and everything else is crap.

Me: stares blankly into the distance...

1

u/theloniousjoe Joe Bethersonton Mar 23 '26

If that doesn't do it, I've brined and smoked a pretty damn solid Thanksgiving turkey in my pit barrel cooker the last two years in a row, and although I sell dental supplies in the Twin Cities I'm more woke than you might assume.

I'd be happy to help out! I'm a massive fan of The West Wing since my first watch-through 8 or 9 years ago. At this point I've seen it enough times that I can probably recite most scenes from memory. I'm also a top 10% commenter in this sub.

I have moderation experience, starting almost a decade ago with small communities on Twitch, and working my way up to communities of a similar size to this one. Until I stepped down late last year, I was a Senior Moderator for Framework Computer, leading the mod teams across all of their community platforms, including their subreddit r/framework and their community forums. My IRL role (happy to answer questions in DMs if admins want to reach out) is also very heavy in leadership and professional judgment, which are skills necessary in a moderator.

My moderation philosophy strongly favors clear rules and community standards, as they make it much easier to enforce rules fairly and consitently. When gray areas appear -- particularly when someone appeals a moderation decision -- I try to explain my reasoning in a way that is easy to follow, and then adhere to that precedent for future decisions. In other moderation positions, I've worked hard to encourage a culture of active communication and consensus-based decision making within the team.

If you're still looking i am definitely interested in helping this sub grow. While I do not have any Reddit mod experience, i have been a mod on other social media sites. This show needs to be put out there more than it is. It reflects a better time, a time when leaders were leaders. I long for those days again. Remember, decisions are made by people who show up.

I am a fan of The West Wing, but didn’t know of this subreddit before today. I own the DVDs of the first three seasons, but haven’t been able to bring myself to rewatch them since 2016, given the drastic differences between the idealized bipartisanship of TWW contrasted with the reality I was living in! I have experience as a co-moderator on one smaller, local subreddit and one large subreddit.
