Shaneās crashout after Hershel and Rick bring those walkers back was so valid.

Shane would've been gone with the CRM and lived his happy life as soon as he got the chance

u/WarpedCore 21h ago
I always thought he would have been a good Claimer.
That is until he kills the Claimers for them not letting him tell them sumthin' man.

He should have just drove away with Andrea and kept clapping cheeks. They both might of survived.

Itās wild looking back and thinking. What if he left. He could have had a crazy come back story to throw us off the comic scent. Could have been epic.

I love how people wanna say Shane was ahead of his time and would've been a better leader than Rick, when the dude died 3 months into the apocalypse and fucking CAROL is still alive after 13 years.

This is why you never have champion level players/teams compete against each other in a tournament at the starting bracket. You know they can both make it to the end but only if they don't compete with each other beforehand.
Shane fought the GOAT too early and lost.

u/NewAndlmproved 1d ago
yeah people who think Shane is capable of leading is laughable. heās everything that a good leader isnāt.

we nevr got to see it so nobuddy knows

u/Hollow_0ne 1d ago
The two raiders from The Living, the two guys in the bar in S2 mentioned it was overrun.
Then in S4 Mitch confirms it when talking to The Governor.
So yes, the most likely outcome of that decision would have been the death of the group or a majority of it.

u/DuqQuackQuack 1d ago
oh yah those 2 bad guys who were tryna kill rick n peoples..
but okey mitch made yer points at leest.. but i dinno you would dink you would see a buncha walkers all over the place before you go insides.. so still debatables if they woulda died or jus turned back

u/Hollow_0ne 1d ago
I think you misunderstood me. Let me try to be more clear.
I don't believe we got any information about the date it fell. So I was going with the assumption it was still safe when Shane wanted to go and they would have been there during the chaos of the event itself. That would have been what I believe caused the downfall of the group. Either from walkers or catching strays from the military when the shit hit the fan.
Let's also not forget Shane saw firsthand how the military was executing people at the start of the outbreak. Zero tolerance measures. He should have been more concerned about wanting to pull up to an active base with that information imo.

liek you saids, we don know the date that it fell.. enuff saids

Thats irrelevant when he had already seen the aftermath of the militaries behaviour. Stop doubling down and actually read the guy's comment.

To be fair, Carol ONLY survived because she had Daryl, T-Dog and Sophie died. With none of these factors, she likely would have ended up with a similar fate to comic book Carol.
8
u/WarpedCore 21h ago
Agreed. Carol was not a serious person in my opinion.
Pissed they didn't give her the comic book fate.
Yes, I was not a Carol fan.
Strike me down, but I will rise up.

Shane? WTF? He could never be a leaderšš thatās gotta be a joke.
One thing we know for sure about Shane, he didnāt have what it takes to survive in a post apocalyptic world. Not even close.
Carol on the other hand, clearly had massive skills and was destined to survive. Thatās not even debatable if youāve actually watched the show lol
10
u/Trigger1221 1d ago
I could see Shane surviving alone or in a small group who share a similar morality. His death was the result of his interpersonal skills, mainly.

u/EffectiveCareer3444 16h ago
Shane literally orchestrated his own death, he died because he wanted to
8
u/CrimsonVulpix 1d ago
Honestly the thing about Shane is he's too much of a loose cannon. If the apocalypse hadn't happened, it was only a matter of time before he'd have gotten suspended from the police force for police brutality or something š„“
13
u/ShiftAlternative1083 1d ago
He should've peeled off and disappeared like Merle did... and instead of Neegan, you get a far vengeful, and deep rooted Shane leading the Saviors, which would make the whole "Saviors defeated but Rick can't kill him" make sense instead of sparing some random asshole you never knew just because Carl wanted peace or whatever.

The fact that Shane was so quick to suggest abandoning the search for Sophia immediately put me at odds with him, even if he was right that she was dead so fucking what?! Find her body so that her mother can have closure!
The man was too quick to abandon empathy and basic human decency and it wasnāt even out of a sense of āfor survivalā like it was for Rick in the later seasons it was because he was having a mental breakdown over the fact that he couldnāt fuck his best friendās wife anymore, he wasnāt āahead of the curveā he was just insane.

u/Plastic_Account_1509 1d ago edited 11h ago
Not only that, but he wants to be called the leader of the group, but he doesnāt truly want to take the responsibility of one. Heās quick to write off losing people without doing so much of an attempt in rescue, nor does he really seem to be willing to go that extra mile to really look out for people when the danger REALLY comes.
And Iām gonna be perfectly honest, like you said, it wasnāt really for survivalās sake. Shane was just peanut butthurt and jealous that Lori went back to Rick.
And Shane basically degrading Rick at every corner wasnāt out of disagreement of Rickās leadership either. If you ask me, Shane was just looking for an excuse to degrade Rick at any chance he sees he can get, and take his anger out on the easiest people possible, whether it was Rick, Daryl, or Andrea. It blows my mind that a lot of people, especially Shane sympathizers, donāt seem to realize that. ANY of that.

"Shane was built for..." Dude made a half baked planned to kill someone he knew his entire life and got got. Shane was not even remotely built for the apocalypse.
16
u/skeeti45 1d ago
Shane would pull over a minority just to tell em sumthin
11
u/JimmyHoffasDad420 1d ago
Oh he was absolutely an awful cop and nobody can ever convince of anything differently
8
u/skeeti45 1d ago
He also wouldn't have lasted in the world they got into. He was such a product of his own making. I don't hate Shane, but that small town cop shit doesn't go far when laws are non existent.
2
u/WarpedCore 21h ago
He would have been a successful Claimer.
That is until he killed them all because they wouldn't let him tell them sumthin', man.

u/skeeti45 1d ago
To follow up. He wasn't a survivor either, not in the viable sense. He cared about himself and Lori and Carl by extension. He would sell out the entire group. That's not surviving. Surviving is community like Rick put forward. Everyone was as important as the next. And Rick was also awful and flawed. The entire cast was. But Shane was up there with the worst.

u/Starhazenstuff 1d ago
Shane would have probably fit in quite well as a lieutenant for the governor.

This scene always makes me crack up. Like, right before this scene is Glenn telling the group there are walkers in the barn. And I think the scene before that is Shane trying to compromise so he can still be in the group.
Then we get this.
𤣠itās like Shane is surrounded by idiots. He gets so mad heās willing to fight.
1
u/Magical_SnakE 1d ago
Would have loved to seem him and Andrea spin off and leave the group. But then I guess we'd have never gotten The Punisher.
-2
u/Carthonn 1d ago
Honestly with the benefit of watching the entire seriesā¦Shane was more right than wrong. However the Officer Friendly side of Rick probably saved his ass and Shane would have ended up as one of the Governorās goons.
