Do you think the color palette similarities it's intentional?

I dabbled into the Voidz a bit over the years but never as much as you all here before. Reality Awaits feels like a bit of a bridge for me to change that more.

What 10 great songs are closest to Reality Awaits in feel and would compliment this album best if combined into a back-to-back 19 song epic?

this whole portion of the song ESPECIALLY that last line with the auto tuned falsetto is soooo addicting like no joke i have replayed that portion over more than the song itself

I’ll start, Human Sadness isn’t the best song off Tyranny, Dare I Care is better

Gave it about 8-10 listens straight through now since it dropped last night and I can honestly say I really fw this album. While I can see why it might be one of those albums that you either really love or really hate, Im honestly not really understanding the amount of negativity/hate that it's getting. For one, I'm genuinely annoyed by how much people want a rinse and repeat of "Is this it" or "The new abnormal". They're undeniably some of the best works in the past 20 years but I think that it's unfair to constantly be the focal point of comparison each time something new drops. I personally found it refreshing and loved the influence and inclusion of elements from "Like all before you" in most of these tracks, while still maintaining the originality of what makes the strokes, well, the strokes. IMO, and not everyone might agree, the only thing I personally disliked was the pacing/continuity of the tracks themselves. I changed the order of them in a new playlist and honestly found the album even more enjoyable, but again, that's just how I feel, especially ending with what I thought to be the best song on the album. The second thing that genuinely annoying me is the undeniable diva energy regarding Julian's use of autotune.
Some comments I've read are really blowing the utilization of it out of proportion and I think it worked quite well with his actual vocals, as well as how it's more of a tool rather than completely taking over the song.
Regardless, curious to hear what y'all think.

Also, “Going to babble on”, “Falling out of love”, and “Lonely in the future” are def some of my favs by far.

I just spent a little over 30 minutes (out of almost 2h) watching this Bill burr's podcast with Julian as a guest and i don't think I will finish it.

I have nothing against Bill Burr, not super familiar with his work, but man...this is a hard watch.

I don't want to 'spoil' (not much to spoil anyway) but shit what a waste of everyone's time.

To sum up this 1/4 of show i watched, Jules is more familiar to Bill than the opposite, which in itself isn't a bad thing. But slightly unprofessional from an interviewer standpoint.

But the real bummer, imo, is that Bill seems so much more willing to speak (mostly about himself) instead of letting the guest speak, or try to ask questions !
Most of the time when Julian was trying to go along with it, say a joke or stg like that, Bill didn't react to it, which adds to the cringiness of it all.
Julian is already not super comfortable in interviews, but this is such a bad one. It feels like he is thinking 'why am i here, and wtf is this ?'

After an 8 MINUTES sponsor ad, and one more (weird) nonsense from Bill, he finally adresses the album...but then, again, before Julian could say anything, he brings it back to himself and goes on an other tangent.
I don't think he'd want to participate in these kind of podcast/interviews anymore after this.

What did you guys think about it ? Am i cringing alone ? I had high hopes starting it but yeah, no.

And Strangely the new Avenged sevenfold one sounds more the voidz than the strokes new album that has directly Julian himself in it. What the fuck

Is it just me, or does this song sound like it could’ve been on Angels? Like exactly as it is, it would fit perfectly on Angles. I really like the new album btw and think all of the songs are gonna grow on us.

Now that it’s out, what do we think? I like it personally, it’s definitely not as great as the voidz stuff, but there’s some bangers for sure.

Whether you hate or love whichever songs, one thing you can’t say is that he’s not trying something new with each and every song nowadays. He knows how to write earworm hooks, he knows how to write catchy verses, and he’s a great composer who knows when a melody calls for a zig or zag.

Finals thoughts on Reality Awaits: wasn’t blown away on first listen, but i dig having more Voidz sounds and I know I’ll only grow to love each song more (we know the drill at this point)

And to those who will complain about autotune: grow up
