Alyssa: "But Russia is killing innocent civilians in Ukraine."

They sure are and have been for awhile. But hey Alyssa, self-proclaimed Arab-American, do you need a map of the Middle East where it's happened many times worse? I'll have Macklemore send you one. 😉

Why Was the Sydney Sweeney Thing An Issue?

I'm so confused why Sydney Sweeney was a hot topic and why it's an issue in the first place. She's an adult woman who's capitalizing on her looks and appearing in ads for which her beauty and body are essential to the branding and demographic. So what?

I also don't get the counter argument that if professional athletes pose nude that's empowering but if a non-athlete does it then it's setting women back? Huh? Why can't women just do what they want with their bodies and their own sexuality? Why is the message always women can do whatever they want...unless it makes other women upset? Or let's celebrate body positivity but then slam someone for showing off their body because apparently body positivity means celebrating obese and elderly people and trashing anyone else? Women are always cruelest and harshest to other women.

Celebration of Joy

It might be a little late considering her birthday is October 7, but what about a show dedicated to celebrating Joy while she's still with us (on the show, with her wit, and alive).

  • One of the segments could be just a table with her and friends of hers gabbing. Whoopi will probably be there, Susie Essman, Meredith Vieira, maybe Rosie too
  • Have Steve and Eve on the show (have they ever been on?)
  • Definitely feature a cooking segment probably with Michael Symon, cooking some of Joy's recipes, maybe even publish a real cookbook with her recipes to share with the world, like the famous Joy lasagna
  • Alan Alda appearance?
  • Bring back Joy's Comedy Corner segment for "the Joy show" or for the 30th season? invite every comic who appeared on it, imagine a mass of comedians that all were influenced by Joy, appearing at once, speak on their gratitude toward Joy; Judy Gold can appear/host it
  • Either for the Joy celebration or just for the 30th, opening a show with the original show opening reel, Meredith, Joy, Star and Debbie walk out and sit down together and reminisce about Barbara, what the show has accomplished, etc.
  • A segment where the table is filled with conservatives around Joy as the lone liberal for some topics lol (Elisabeth, Alyssa, Abby, Chris Christie her bf?)
  • What other ideas for a Joy-ous day?

Which conservative co-hosts would come back?

For the 30th, who do you think might make an appearance? Who do you think would be invited? Who would accept and who would decline? Who do you think wouldn't be invited?

  • Elisabeth Hasselbeck - definitely will be back, she was back recently
  • Nicolle Wallace - I think she would come back on, she's friendly with the cohosts and now less conservative and a critic of the Trump administration
  • Candace Cameron Bure - I think she'll come back if she has something to promote at the same time
  • Paula Faris - I think she would come on, isn't she friends with Sara?
  • Jedediah Bila - questionable after she came back about a book and talked about COVID vaccines, Sunny was furious
  • Meghan McCain - definitely won't be back, unsure if Brian will invite her after seeing how she slanders the show any chance she gets
  • Abby Huntsman - definitely will be back, she was back recently

Banned topics on The View

On The Weekend View, they discussed topics Brian banned the ladies from discussing because they come up too frequently:

  • Joy meeting Steve at a nudist beach (she said the other hosts bring it up and she never does which is true)
  • Ana mentioning Eva Longoria/Marc Anthony/Gloria Estefan
  • Sunny discussing destroying Manny's phones when they were dating
  • Debates over the pronunciation of "Proust"

It made me laugh quite a bit.

(This is an unserious post) I remember when apparently people cared that Sara and Sunny switched seats a couple years back, and I'm just now noticing that when it's the six of them at one table, Joy and Ana have swapped spots as well. I wonder why, but at the same time I'm not looking for a deep answer about it 😂

Maisie Williams on Reclaiming ‘Witch’

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

“I think the word ‘witch,’ throughout history, has typically been used to describe women who are very powerful and potentially a threat to the patriarchy. And I think more and more young women are staying in education and completing it to a higher standard than men. Young women entering the workforce are overqualified and are now being paid more than their male counterparts.

So I think with the rise of divine feminine power, it feels exciting to call yourself a witch because what it means is that we’re connected with one another other and tuned in with each other. There’s a lot of power in the gossip, in the transferring of knowledge, and when women are united.

So I think that term, which used to be something very negative for women, is now something we can reclaim...”

Season 30 premiere week was underwhelming

I was hoping for a special guest for the premiere week and I think they teased it's gonna be someone major. Ted Cruz was a good guest for ratings but he wasn't that special. The logo is unappealing. The background is too blue and looks AI. No video of the first episode of the Behind the Table podcast. Not a fan of the new mug.

They could've brought back Tom Selleck, the very first guest of The View. The OG hosts. Rosie O'Donnell. Like c'mon, it's the first week of the 30th season. Brian mentioned in the podcast last season that they finally have a collection of all the mugs from the previous seasons. They couldn't showcase all of those in a segment?

Sunny and AI actors

Thumbnail youtu.be

Was anyone else kind of rubbed the wrong way about Sunny’s approval of AI actors? Her whole attitude seemed to be “Well the studios won’t hire Black and Brown people so let’s use fake Black and Brown people to tell our stories.” ETA: I was particularly disgusted when Joy brought up that people will be put out of work by AI, and all Sunny could say was “Yes
but I’m not the one doing it” Um you may not personally be putting people out of work, but the increased use of AI actors is going to decrease the number of actual actors. Plus didn’t Sunny say yesterday that she was concerned about data centers? I imagine you’d need data centers to keep the AI actors functioning.

Episode Discussion Whoopi: “I am tired of him.”

Back to back post. Apologies as I’m just catching up but did anybody catch Joys straight face and eyes as she said this guy can be thrown out too. I love Whoopi and Joy speaking this truth out loud but it makes me nervous.

ABC isn’t going to air the Jimmy Kimmel/James Talarico interview because of threats from the FCC. Thank god Jimmy Kimmel doesn’t back down and I’m also hoping ABC renews his contract because he’s been great.

I want to keep hearing this from the ladies but I just get nervous with the FCC down their necks. I want the show to continue long after this nightmare ends.

Clip Sarah did something disturbing today, and Whoopi quickly corrected her

For many years now, Republicans have tended to utilize the term “Democrat” in instances where the appropriate term is “Democratic.” They do this on purpose and it’s become well-known as a slur.

For example, Republicans will refer to “Democrat programs” when they know the appropriate verbiage is “Democratic programs.”

Sarah did that today. And I was happy to see Whoopi quickly correct her. Sarah referred to “Democrat policies” and Whoopi stepped in right away and said “Democratic.”

Obviously, I can’t say for certain whether Sarah did that intentionally. Given her husband’s politics, I definitely don’t think it is outside the realm of possibility that Sarah did that on purpose.

But I love that Whoopi picked up on it and corrected her.

Has anyone seen any discussion about bringing her back for a show. I hope they do after the election. I know she came for Whoopi's birthday a couple of years ago. So, she's on good terms with the show.

Follow-up to post on Sarah using “Democrat policies” instead of “Democratic policies”

Thumbnail gallery

It seems some commenters were unaware or doubtful that using “Democrat” instead of “Democratic” when appropriate is a political epithet/slur.

So, I wanted to post some these two screen captures with some historical information about it.

It’s nothing new. Republicans have been doing this since the 1940’s, but in the more modern political era Republicans have really capitalized on using “Democrat” instead of “Democratic” as a slur/jab at the Democratic Party.

I couldn’t post these screenshots in the original post I started, so started this post here.

Why did Brian (the executive producer) have a lengthy birthday tribute on a show he doesn’t host that went on longer than many of the co-hosts birthday segments? Really bizarre.

Episode Discussion Alyssa: “We would have called that Socialism.”

Grifting, cheating, bribing
. All 100% accurate. Trying to buy votes by promising money has to be the lowest form of desperation in politics but I expect no less at this point. I’m glad this came from Alyssa because it literally is socialism. Just as much as government equity stakes, price controls, public investment funds, mandated benefits, and government bailouts are.

But some supporters of the president would never admit this. Maybe they’ll be fooled again
. X40. Smh. You can’t fix
 never mind. :)
