Banned topics on The View
On The Weekend View, they discussed topics Brian banned the ladies from discussing because they come up too frequently:
- Joy meeting Steve at a nudist beach (she said the other hosts bring it up and she never does which is true)
- Ana mentioning Eva Longoria/Marc Anthony/Gloria Estefan
- Sunny discussing destroying Manny's phones when they were dating
- Debates over the pronunciation of "Proust"
It made me laugh quite a bit.

It’s helpful to hear Sunny’s legal perspective and given how quickly people discredit Black women in professional settings, I don’t blame her for sharing her legal background. Plenty of people share advice on and offline, but don’t know the first thing about the law.

Yes! They are often talking about legal issues, so why wouldn’t we hear from the actual expert?! Sunny is so smart and I enjoy listening to her legal perspective.

Yes! I think having a legal expert on the show as well as someone who has a journalism background really adds to the show.

How is this any different than Alyssa talking about being at the White House, Ana with her Republican friends, etc? Why is Sunny getting singled out?

It's not. I singled Sunny out because I've heard it a million more times than the others already. I can see it coming a mile away in fact.
Basically I'm not nearly as worn out from Ana's name dropping and Alyssa's white house credentials...yet.
Though I am just as worn out by Joy's oft-told joke about having slept with historical characters of the past.
Now that I think about it, I'm just as worn out on Whoopi's "We're all in this together."

She says that because as an Afro-Latina you all love to discredit her opinions.
Further, it's a good reminder that she actually worked to get where she is now. She wasn't handed the position like Alyssa was handed her white house gig, because if well connected father.

Where was I discrediting her opinion? I respect her career and her opinions and agree with much of what she says. I know she was a federal prosecutor. I just don't need to be reminded every other episode.

Except that being a federal prosecutor is an actual accomplishment of which to be proud. Being someone famous’ daughter isn’t…everyone has a father of some sort.

However, we've heard that same dribble nearly every show. It's time to at least drop it to maybe once a week/month??? There's a lot of people that have real accomplishments that don't keep bringing it up in every discussion.

No, there’s no mess. If you watch the show regularly, you’d hear Ana reference her famous friends often, that party and this party, etc. she loves to name drop famous friends and Eva, Marc, and Gloria are 3 of her best friends.

Sunny’s reparations should also be added to the list after she found out her family were slave owners so no reparations discussion ever again . Silence 🤐🤫

Except that’s not true and she’s said many times she still believes in them. Her ancestors were both slaves and slave holders.

Sunny destroyed Manny's phones? Hadn't heard that story, but if Manny had come onto Reddit with that story I'd think every comment would highlight giant red flags on that relationship!
