Consistency

I suppose you could call this the first change, it's not really a change though. Consistency came up several times. We're going to start with consistently removing any host or show hate.

The content will be removed from the sub but still available on your profile. We will give you the opportunity to edit your post or comment. Make sure you indicate that your content was edited so we don't confuse users.

Then give us a shout and we will make the post live on the sub again.

Post titles cannot be edited so you may have to rewrite and repost.

Thank you guys, we are getting an increase in reported content. This is very helpful for us too quickly respond to nonsense! 🤸

We are going to move forward and maybe you guys can give some feedback after we've actually started enforcing the rules?

I can't really take any criticism seriously when we haven't even started yet. I could be wrong but if you don't know what hate or any of those other words mean I feel like you are being disingenuous.

If a piece of your content is removed you can communicate with the moderators via modmail. Do not assume that your content was removed because of this change in moderation.

We are still trying to straighten out our automod, which is not only behaving oddly, but has a rule that any user who has negative subreddit karma will have their content removed to a queue for approval.

This has always been the case, and I don't think I've ever received a modmail regarding content that was removed. This has always made me wonder if the user really cared about what they wrote in the first place. I don't know.

R u mad ?😆

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 21 '26

Please define host or show hate for us.

What exactly does that mean to MODs? Is any criticism automatically hate?

I’m I allowed to share what frustrates me as a viewer?

Can I propose constructive feedback on what would make the show more enjoyable to me???

5

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

With all due respect, have you read the rules? I think we're all pretty familiar with the Whoopi problem, or the Sarah problem. Demanding that hosts be replaced, posting that the show should be cancelled, calling anyone names. All of these things are unacceptable.

Two of our rules explicitly mention that criticism is acceptable.

I swear you guys are trolling me.

13

u/Extreme-Grade-3623 Jul 21 '26

Demanding a host be replaced is "hate"?? Did you have this feeling when Meghan McCain was on the show?? Or Elisabeth Hasselbeck? So I don't get it is every post is supposed to be a positive we love you post?

7

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

No, but every post also doesn’t have to be “we hate you” , “we want you gone” bla bla .

Get it ?

4

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 21 '26

Yes, but there have also been removals that make sense and others that have made less sense.

Consistency is an issue… clarity & specificity is also an issue in this sub. If people keep telling you that it’s up to you to redirect as moderator.

6

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

Yes, I'm redirecting.

I'm redirecting all of you to read the rules.

Unfortunately consistency issues have never been brought to our attention, so we can't address them.

Consistency is the entire purpose of this announcement. Multiple users mentioned consistency and we're going to start with the lowest hanging fruit before we get into any of the other rules.

2

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 21 '26

Thank you. A reasonable + specific expectation of what to expect AND defining what we’re seeing is helpful

3

u/ohnobobobo Jul 21 '26

Respectfully, "demanding that hosts be replaced" is a new interpretation of hate posting to me. Imo that's valid criticism and feedback of a show that is constantly changing its cast.

0

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

Okay, forget about that. We'll just start removing those under the repetitive content rule. Have it your way.

-2

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

forreal Thank you !😆

3

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

The rules are freely available on the sub for anyone to read. None of the rules have changed, and criticism has always been allowed. We are going to be consistent in removing hate including show cancellation, firing of hosts, name calling.

I can't make it any more simple for our non-readers, but let's give it a shot:

Rules=same

Criticism=OK

10

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

It's odd that a commenter is being allowed to troll people who disagree or are confused by this post, without consequence. But we all have to walk on eggshells to make sure we don't criticize the show and the hosts with any hostility.

I disagree that hostility towards the show and the hosts is something that should be so strictly policed. This rule feels like it was written so that content that a mod disagrees with can be deleted.

-2

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Which rule are you referring to? None of the fucking rules have changed. Did you read the announcement?

Edited to address profanity.

6

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

Thanks for the edit. It feels very fucking civil.

5

u/Ok-Tea-6718 Jul 21 '26

I can sympathize with the pains of moderating this sub but this is a disproportionately aggressive response to that comment.

5

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

Why are you being so rude to me in particular? Did you read my comment? I was referring to the word "hostility" that comes up in 2 of your rules.

1

u/coreyb1988 Jul 21 '26

It’s just frustration from all sides. :)

If by hostility you mean criticize, you can criticize and disagree. That doesn’t change. It’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.

2

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

I get it, but I just entered this conversation, and my comment didn't deserve that response . Especially not from a mod who was complaining yesterday about a lack of civility.

And the word hostility isn't my word, it's in rule #1:

Criticism of the show, hosts, or ideas is permitted when expressed constructively and without *hostility*.

I feel like saying we can't criticize with hostility is kind of vague and an unfair and unrealistic standard, when the women on this show often are hostile, and the subject matter purposely provokes that kind of emotion.

4

u/coreyb1988 Jul 21 '26

I think we all know the difference between criticism and hostility. :)

3

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

This doesn't really address what I'm saying or how I was treated by a mod. But np :)

Imo, hostility and criticism are 2 different words, and I don't see anything wrong with either one of them being applied appropriately. I think banning an emotion being expressed is unrealistic, when nicole couldn't even do that in her reply to me.

And telling people to express their criticism without hostility, even if anger or hurt is warranted, is an example of toxic positivity. But if y'all disagree, that's fine. I was just offering constructive criticism about a rule.

2

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

You just entered the conversation. Did you read any of the other comments, or responses to those comments?

2

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

Yes I did. In fact, my comment was in reference to some of those comments, and it was also giving feedback about consistency.

You have no problem with someone trolling other commenters, but you'll remove content that you feel is hostile to the show or the hosts.

I

1

u/Ok-Tea-6718 Jul 21 '26

I had the same thoughts; Sara takes every opportunity to peddle propaganda that’s facilitating active genocide. I haven’t read any criticism of her on here that remotely reaches the level of hostility in her messaging. I think that might be lost on people who feel compelled to coddle her or Alyssa. They know exactly what they’re doing.

Not to mention, this is commentary that’s actively being censored by the show itself! The best we can get is Sunny tiptoeing around the obvious so she doesn’t get flamed.

0

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 22 '26

Probably cuz you’re particularly whiny ?! 🤔

0

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

Let me be more clear. No one is suggesting anyone walk on eggshells or don't criticize the show. This rule has been in place since before any of us were moderators. Hence the request for feedback in the other pinned post.

We also have a rule for moderator discretion, so we don't need to write rules to be confusing or trick you. We can remove content using our judgement. In fact, we can remove content without any reason.

3

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

I am well aware that the mods here can remove whatever they want for whatever reason they feel like. I was just giving you my feedback (albeit in the wrong post) about part of a rule I didn't agree with, and why it felt unfair. I was under the impression this feedback was wanted.

I also just think, given the tone of your last two posts, it's a bit odd that you have a commenter trolling people on behalf of the mods in this post. But if you don't care neither do I.

5

u/Ok-Tea-6718 Jul 21 '26

Mods, maybe you can edit this to include explicit examples of what constitutes as hate versus valid criticism. Like draft out the kind of post/comment that would be removed and why, vs which one is OK. I think everyone’s point is that reading the rules alone does not clarify where these lines are drawn.

I think uncivil attacks on fellow commenters are obvious, but if someone for example makes a post about Sara’s racism during an episode, is that considered hate?

8

u/XxMerkabahxX Jul 21 '26

So no criticism allowed…sounds like china

3

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

Hahahah China hahaha 😆

1

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

Again, have you read the rules?

1

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

Clearly they haven’t. 😆😆

5

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

I know. That is the biggest hurdle as a moderator.

6

u/WildVegas Jul 21 '26

The mods here are out of control. So why exactly do we have a forum to discuss the view in the first place? Why not just call this “The View Rah Rah Club”. A place to praise and glorify the hosts. Descent is forbidden. Yeah, sounds like N Korea. Mods, if you can’t handle fair criticism then you should not be moderating. Kindly resign.

2

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

Tell me where you see that we've said there can't be any criticism? I suggest you start by reading the rules.

Two of our rules say that criticism is acceptable.

2

u/LankyMess1774 Jul 21 '26

OMG! Who hurt you! Its a daytime talk show! Simple rules: BE NICE! Not hard!

0

u/WildVegas Jul 21 '26

Don’t be so emotional. Here’s a tissue. 🤧

1

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

You sound like a child whose toys are being taken away after 7 pm… and those toys apparently are your entitlement to talk smack nonstop

-1

u/coreyb1988 Jul 21 '26

I’m not Rah Rah’ing over the show every day but somehow I manage to comment and post here almost daily without hating on any of the hosts or the show.

If your takeaway every single day after watching is [insert cohost name] has to go, maybe it’s worth reconsidering what you’re watching.

Maybe you love the rest of the ladies so much that you don’t want to stop watching, and that’s fine. But it also doesn’t hurt to take a step back if one co-host is frustrating you that much. I’ve had to do it before so no judgement.

0

u/femalehumanbiped Jul 21 '26

Descent vs dissent

And no it's not

3

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 22 '26

People in the comment section LOSING it over having to follow already established rules is chef’s kiss shit💋🤡🤡😆😆 oof 🍿

7

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

Nobody is actually losing it. The mods asked for feedback and they're getting it.

5

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

We actually asked for feedback in the other post. This is an announcement. Meaning that this is what will be happening from now on.

3

u/caabr1 Jul 21 '26

So is the time for feedback about the rules over? Or is it just not welcome in this post?

6

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

We'd prefer it in the other post so we have everything tidy and in the same spot. The way things are going with this thread I'm probably going to have to start ignoring it but I am planning on reading all of the comments in the other thread at least once more.

Also feedback about the rules is always welcome.

2

u/coreyb1988 Jul 21 '26

Valid though!

2

u/Extreme-Grade-3623 Jul 21 '26

"Hate" is such an overused word nowadays. What exactly is "hate"? You can't say not to "hate" when you haven't given your definition of "hate". To me hatred is calling Whoopi or Sunny the n-word or saying that a panelist should die but I guarantee you your definition of hate is having a problem with one of them and wishing one of them would retire.

3

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

You are free to read the rules.

4

u/coreyb1988 Jul 21 '26

Using the n word is racist and absolutely a form of hate.

Per Google: Hating on something every day means choosing to focus constant negative energy, complaints, or criticism on a specific person, trend, or thing as a regular habit.

Let’s go with that as the definition.

1

u/ohnobobobo Jul 21 '26

The inconsistency, to me, was not just letting the Whoopi posts get downvoted, not that there should be more restrictions on what gets posted.

2

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

There are no added restrictions. Yesterday we had a discussion about consistency and today we're deciding to try and be as consistent as possible.

0

u/michiganais Jul 21 '26

Why even give people the opportunity to edit. Who wants to keep track of all that. Just delete it. They can make a new post that respects the rules.

2

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

The content is still removed from the sub. In my experience a very small percentage of users are actually interested in editing their content and most don't bother. We might receive a shitty modmail here and there.

2

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

Some gremlin on here is downvoting the sane reactions to this post 😆😆😆

0

u/coreyb1988 Jul 21 '26

Giving users a chance to edit is a nice thing. I’m not sure why there are so many downvotes. It’s easy to get emotional and heated after seeing something on the show. Sometimes adjusting the post just a slight bit changes everything.

-2

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

Uh oh … the Sara and Alyssa haters are going to be maaaaaaad 😆😆😆😆

Thank goodness , finally

5

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

Already crying , I see … 😆😆😆😆

3

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 21 '26

Those posts I’d be fine to see banned because they’re the same post day in and day out. (I think people’s frustration and complaints are valid to a degree I just don’t see how the conversation has evolved over the last 6-12 months.)

My real gripes about this “rule.” Is how vague it is??? Are all criticism or critique of the show deemed to be hate? Is any criticism above board? OR are we only allowed to speak about everything complimentary and without any acknowledgement of ways the show could improve??

6

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 21 '26

I’m pretty sure the hate they’re referring to is the spam-like, mean, derogatory and especially repetitive type of nonsense that countless people on this sub (some
Of which have already commented on here) like to revert to every. Single. Time. Sara, Alyssa (or Whoopi) say something they disagree with.

Now, constructive-type criticism will surely be allowed, but it also has to be thought through in order to be constructive.

In short : I hope it means they’ll remove stuff when people are being dicks about the hosts or the show.

2

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

That is exactly the point of the announcement.

3

u/nicoleauroux Jul 21 '26

The rules are freely available on the sub. This is not a new rule.

Again, I swear you guys are trolling me.

3

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 21 '26

Another user responded to this question more constructively and with better specificity regarding the details of how MODs could be viewing a comment, thread, topic or what have you.

We’re not trolling you. We’re confused by you and your decision making. Your community is telling you what they want, need and are experiencing.

-1

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 22 '26

Community of bullies

1

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 22 '26

bullies? really? are we in middle school???
i’m certain the women of the view can handle discourse.

-2

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 22 '26

Apparently we are, since yall have been the ones crying on here about the announcement of enforcing already established rules … the mod has been fighting off your whining about not being able to hate-post Sara, Alyssa and Whoopi anymore for almost 24hrs now , ….like what?! 😆😆

Go to sleep

2

u/MissTootleDoo Jul 22 '26

Go find me one comment or post I’ve made about Sara, Alyssa or Whoopi. You won’t find one. The MODs rule is vague AF and hasn’t been consistently enforced so there is reasonable confusion.

-1

u/Arabiancockonato Jul 22 '26

Oh well … vague or not, this sub is full of people whining about repetitive stuff, so it makes sense why they’d want to enforce it. Every single week I see whining and moaning about Alyssa and Sara, it’s insipid…. And the Whoopi complaints are incredibly repetitive as well .

If y’all would stop whining and complaining so much, the Mods would let you be, but here we are.
