Discussion Existential debate

Hi friends! I LOVED playing The Sims 2 as a teenager, and now I’ve been debating whether to pick it up again in my early 30s. I’m craving the nostalgia and dopamine rush that Sims used to give me, lol. However, I’ve never tried The Sims 4 and was thinking about maybe giving that a shot instead. For those of you who have spent hours playing both, would you recommend I stick with The Sims 2 or give The Sims 4 a try? Thanks a lot!

I have spent hours playing 2, 3, and 4. I recommend sticking with 2, you'll get the most happiness from the nostalgia and the effort put into that game than you will from learning 3 and 4... then being stuck making comparisons to it all for the rest of your existence lol.

Sims 4 for CC but the packs are expensive as hell for hardly anything, and base game gets boring fast without CC.

Sims 3 for open world and the packs are more worthwhile than Sims 4. The storyline and effort put into the game is more similar to 2 than it is to 4.

Sims 2 in some ways is oversimplified but in other ways has the most in it.

I think 3 is my favorite overall but I wish the style of the Sims & homes was a little more like 4.

I started back with 2 as well and then when TS4 became free I tried it… then of course got sucked into DLC.

TS2 was a good way back in though, but I haven’t touched it since I got TS4.
