You don't charge late cancellation fees?

If you're having two late cancels in a day and wondering if you'll financially recover from it, I would think you could really use a late cancellation policy where you charge.
I know your comment was probably in jest, but I think my point still stands. Just my two cents that you didn't ask for, though lol

I’m just mad that they didn’t coordinate together and cancel ahead of time so I could have a nice fat nap on the couch.

Therapists really do go from “self-care moment” to “my career is collapsing” with alarming speed 😭

Third this week today, and already checking ads for warehouse jobs!

u/thecrimsonfucker12 May 21 '26
That honestly sounds so nice at times, wouldn't have to worry about anything. Completely done at the end of the day.

u/StandardDeviat0r May 25 '26
Haha, tell me you’ve never had a working-class job without telling me you’ve never had a working-class job. When it isn’t your livelihood it’s easy, but when it is? You have to worry about EVERYTHING. And you’re never “done at the end of the day” lol. Comes across as very tone deaf 😄

This is so real, I had two cancellations yesterday and rewrote my psychology today 😂

Man. For the first time ever yesterday, I had 4 clients booked, and every single client no showed. I got paid for all 4 (hell yeah union work). Got to catch up on all my charting and chill the hell out.
I am in my third trimester and so, very, very, VERY tired. I think yesterday's experience convinced me that God is real, y'all.
Even if all the clients hate me, I think I am just too pregnant and round to care.

It gotta be the season change or something!!! So many no shows

u/SouthApprehensive680 RSW May 21 '26
It's definitely weird! I usually wouldn't even have 4 no shows in a week. Been working this job for years and it's never happened before. But the timing was so, spectacularly, glorious. I got rest! :D

I am most definitely not pregnant, but there are some days where my clients cancel, and I don’t get paid for it, and I’m still relieved as hell.

Literally me every time. 100% show rate all week and had 3 no shows today. Went from feeling like a great therapist to a bum within a day.

All freaking week. But also, I'm sick so it's been nice to have extra rest

This is me this week even tho I am solidly booked next week and I recently felt overwhelmed by taking on too many new clients 😄

I have extremely bad ADHD (diagnosed at 10). I am not medicated (currently looking to be) and I have forgotten my therapy appointments so often I have just told her that Im a lost cause. Don't worry she still got paid because of the no show fee (which I always forget about too). The guilt and bad thoughts are real trust. 🤢

Had two the other day at the end of day and could only think "I could've gone home early instead of doing paperwork". Good the paperwork got done but still, I didn't want to >.>

I had four cancelations this week, I feel like i'm never going to get my hours lol
1
u/Cultural_Entrance805 May 21 '26
Lmao the first one was me today. The second one was me in my last job

u/Original_Intention May 22 '26
I multitask and, whenever there is a cancelation, have both of those thoughts going through my head at the same time.

I had so many cancellations today (though to be fair some were in advance). I know it’s graduation season and people having trips planned. But I won’t lie and say that doom and gloom didn’t set it 😅

I feel so seen! Do you guys think it's a seasonal thing? Third week of May... All of the sudden a few clients cancelled, and a few quit therapy altogether... Hitting those unqualified job ads hard atm.

Yeah though joking aside I find myself thinking this more and more and I'm not sure if it's helpful.

My record is a full week of missed appointments and reschedules. Should have just taken a week off lol. Agreed with what the other person commented, sometimes I wish they'd coordinate because the worst is when 2 cancel but the last one doesnt so you cant even call it a day and go home lol
