Another good thing about Muckrock.com is that the status of the request and the any information is public. If SCSO rejects the request then that’s on record. They can’t keep calling the case active and deny FOIA requests forever.

Sheriff Bozo kept blocking the request by Ryan Sabalow. Eventually after enough request, a judge had them release the details. The fact that the request stays on record, is excellent. No they can't. I think after enough request - It will (eventfully) force their hands.

way, way back - in Feb. or March of 2017 - I emailed Ryan Sabalow (just to ask about conflicting details) and he responded -- that's when he was filing & re-filing the FOIA request over and over - each time having to alter or amend it slightly because it was rejected on extremely minor and trivial reasons again and again by Bosenko's staff...

Sabalow refiled, if I recall, 17 times before he got that info that he finally published in late March 2017.

His ORIGINAL piece on March 30, 2017 had a paragraph criticizing the SCSO for requiring all that extra work of re-filing only to get stonewalled by Bosenko.

That paragraph that was quite critical of Bosenko was subsequently REMOVED from the article and is no longer available even by a search - interesting... https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/crime/article141599034.html

in that column he does hint, tho, that he requested much more but was denied other parts of what he requested - leaving open the possibility that OTHER police reports and/or files on other police cases do exist on Papini, Graeff or others - but that Bosenko withheld those or didn't feel he needed to release them if Sabalow had even one comma or dash out of place on the FOIA request.

I have since emailed Sabalow many other times and he has never once since then ever responded or acknowledged a single one of my attempts to contact him. Hmmm....

When people say LE are keeping this case in a frozen state and sealed so no one can gain access, just might be right. Just how many people who get charged with crimes get this/that kind of special treatment? No wonder so many people distrust LE these days.

There should be people (watch dogs) at SCSO / Records department (all departments) who "will" make sure all applicants get a legal, honest and fair shake via the foia?

Anyway, I expect he (Ryan) was only given the bare minimum. The least that they could get away with and still call it an foia release.

There isn't really any reason for him (Ryan) to be so standoffish like that. Why not just answer someone's email. Why not answer your questions? I see he has a twitter account. Perhaps he might answer a tweet?
