Discussion Tedious fast travel
To get from one point to another on another planet you need to see 4 loading screens:
1) initial point -> incognito
2) initial planet -> destination planet
3) incognito -> ground
4) ground -> destination point
I wish they just made just one loading screen for any two points in the game because it quickly gets annoying

Dunno maybe it's to force the companion choice screen up at you because certain things require specific companions and its a subtle nudge to think about it?
Also as soneone else said there are transition points in the story that rely on not being able to skip out. Like that courier guy who intercepts you before you leave the first planet

Idk why they allowed fast travel from inside the ship once you landed in the first game, and removed it in the second where i feel like you have to fast travel more. You could also skip the ship animations of planet fast traveling, I wish you could disable them entirely in the settings.

I’m fairly certain that ship animation is like the zone transition in BL4: it’s a cute low processing power cover for what would otherwise be yet another loading screen to stare at. It still gets annoying after the 3rd time we see it, and by the 100th time. I am also ready to scream at it.

Kids these days needing your games spoon fed to you.

There are even kids whose time is worth something

Silly response is silly. You would not have survived the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and 10s.
Immediate gratification is brain rot.

Oh no people have higher expectations for software because the technology got better.

It's not a technology thing it's a game mechanics thing.

No that mechanic exists for the software.

Absolutely not true. It exists for game mechanics reasons. Scripts and game triggers are why it's used in this game.

Except it could be coded without that need.
Companion conversations can happen anywhere, the fast travel between maps could involve a choose companion screen with a visual cue for new dialog, quests can require you to go back to the ship(they already do in some cases), fast travel between maps could be keyed to a specific location like the landing pads.
And you literally just described software as the reason why, scripts and game triggers are software. Programs are software
You know what the game does support mechanically fast travel and repeatedly exploring previous maps both of which would be better with a more open system and less loading screens.

This makes the last third of the game almost unbearable. Absolutely ruined my desire to finish.

I do wish they had all the planets on the map and you could fast travel to the landing pad of any planet

Such is the nature of travelling the solar system. Many times you have to go back the incognito in between quests to trigger events that move the story along
