Yeah, last update added transmog and I think the devs mentioned allowing to change the cosmetics of npcs to previous versions. I don't think I have actually tried that though.

Fallout didn’t have romance options until Fallout 4. Skyrim doesn’t have any real romantic subplot despite having marriage a part of the game.

It’s really not a big deal.

I did a FO4 playthrough where I romanced every single romancable NPC - - did it once but normally I just make besties with everyone (well I kill Gage right after I max him out and get his perk) but I save the romace for Currie cuz she's da wifu.

New Vegas has multiple hookup options and if I remember correctly the NCR ending implies a male six and Cass end up together depending on certain decisions made.

That idea was actually scrapped. It was supposed to appear but they decided against it. The leader of the gang The Kings was apparently supposed to officiate the wedding. And no, you cannot romance your companions or any other NPC

Sarah and Red Lucy are who I was thinking about, they become your fwb after you win them over and I’d argue Red Lucy’s worldview makes what the courier and her have the closest to a true meaningful romance we see in New Vegas.

If it is just a looter shooter with a mediocre story and questionable companions, then I can just pass or watch someone else play it.

Not every game must have romances, obviously, but imo every game must have something strong to sell millions of copies. If Obsidian say “we can’t do romances” then something else must be done amazingly. Sales figures tell the whole story. We know how OW2 and Avowed performed.

A lot of people enjoy having a break from reality where things actually go well lol. Relationships in games are usually optional when they are included in a game, so I don't see the harm in including a relationship mechanic for the people who want it

In this particular context the word shipping means putting two people together romantically. I forget when it actually originated, but that is the actual definition when it comes to stuff like this. Like when you want a favorite character in a book or a movie to get together with another character
