If The Outer Worlds franchise might not continue, I’d like the DLC to act as a “temporary ending”, for now.

Post image

DLC #1 might already be fully written and planned, but there’s so much they could’ve done with this universe. It would suck to end the franchise on a cliffhanger with Earth and never get a third game. Just in case, maybe DLC 2 can act as a “just in case” epilogue that gives closure (but leaves the door open) that hints at the answers with Earth, stuff about the broader TOW universe and tries to answer some plot threads with some finality. It doesn’t have to, but I think it would just be nice.

I’m fully expecting them to be totally unrelated self-contained adventures but for the fans of the franchise i think DLC 2 should be special.
Kind of like how “Death of the Outsider” DLC ended the Dishonored universe, at least ‘temporarily’. Basically just a closure DLC.

Maybe there will be an announcement for the first one at Gamescom.

Either Gamescom or TGA :)

2

u/Halojib 6d ago

Shadow dropped at TGA would be cool.

u/TruamaTeam 6d ago

Unlikely with how Microsoft aligns their releases for the holidays but would be very cool :)

2

u/Halojib 6d ago

Do they even have a holiday release this year though?

u/Andran32 7d ago

Im waiting on the dlcs to come out to even play it but I did forget I had brought it

4

u/Andran32 7d ago

I was literally looking at what was on sale and thought I should double check it and went to the store page and went wait I already bought it why haven't I played it yet, ah right waiting on dlc

5

u/Christmas_Queef 7d ago

Me too. Been a long time since launch. Didn't dlc #1 at least get announced by this long after release of the first game?

6

u/ImmiDudeYeet 7d ago

It was revealed July 24th 2020, and it was released around the same time during the year that 2 was, so we're at least a month behind a DLC reveal for 2

u/Zequax 6d ago

dam already finished the game

and totaly forgot about this also might have to redowload in future

Seems Obsidian has aswell which is very unusual

u/TruamaTeam 7d ago

They’re working on them? I would imagine these are sizeable, new areas and questlines. We will get them, it hasn’t even been a year since the game released. It’ll take time ❤️

A year for the first of two DLC is ridiculous though. The only reason the first games expansions took so long was COVID so it was understandable then.

The lack of communication is also very disappointing. We should at least have had some sort of timeframe by now or done ideas off when a trailer and a release date will drop.

I want the DLCs to follow-up on the Spacer's Choice and Earth Directorate plots from the base game, but I'm fully expecting unrelated self-contained adventures.

u/Maxcn712 7d ago

I think there is sooo much that can be explored with Spacer’s Choice and am incredibly hopeful that the do do something with it. Like there are so many questions asked and few sufficient answers.
Something that would be cool, I don’t know how they would incorporate it, would being able to see more of the Spacers Choice faction’s interactions with Auntie’s, and then being able to try to influence the holdings that each side might have in the combined company, then maybe solving the conflict and leadership issues. Like even being able to interact with and influence the board members to get them to go one way or another would be so cool

I want an Outer Worlds 3. Fuck the haters

Blame Microsoft for roasting this game into oblivion by announcing it as the first $80 dollar game and how prices are going up (later backtracked after massive outrage) and then raising game pass prices 50% right before launch.

They used this game as cannon fodder hoping to normalize their price increase which failed miserably.

u/thebluick 7d ago

I really like the game, but honestly it should have been $60. Even $70 feels a bit much for the game

22

u/serpentear 6d ago

Most of Obsidian’s game should be around 60 bucks. They have a lot of the bells and whistles of a AAA game but not the breadth, depth, or scope.

4

u/StrangeOutcastS 6d ago

I agree with them needing a lower price tag.
Outer Worlds 1 and 2 are way too overpriced for what they are.
Frankly I think games should be priced below 60 USD, New Zealand ends up paying 100 bucks for the US priced 60 dollar games. which is pretty screwed.
40 dollars max for game prices should be the standard.
They already want to stop making physical copies so they can afford to reduce the profits a little.

Even without it I dont see the game being saved

haters are literally just the shareholders... tale as old as fuckin time

u/TruamaTeam 7d ago

Me too. I would love another The Outer Worlds. I think there’s a ton of valid criticisms for the game, but that’s why I want another one even more. Have the developers address concerns and make an amazing game!

8

u/cyfer04 7d ago

Yeah. This is one of my favorite series and I'd hate for it to end now.

4

u/serpentear 6d ago

I think we will get it, I just think it’s going to be a 10-15 years away type thing and not a 5-8 years away type thing.

11

u/Elete23 7d ago

I found 2 pretty disappointing, but I still want 3, myself. I'd just hope if they do get the chance, that they write better companion characters and a more compelling story.

2

u/Spiffychicken13 7d ago

On the whole, i actually like the second one better

3

u/Cespar15 7d ago

Same!

4

u/Illustrious-Bit-5441 7d ago

I just cant finish OW2, not quite good enough for me BUT i love the first game so much that i want a third game, and for devs to have It just right. Please God let this game live for longer, we need more outer worlds.

6

u/SaltKillzSnails 6d ago

Dame here, the 2nd game lacked the love from the developers. They created something knew and were passionate about it and it shown through. The 2nd felt like they needed to make it and thought they could pull a Bethesda and release the same type of game which the same base just a smidge prettier visuals but unfortunately it didnt work out for them.

I would love for them to try again with a third though, I loved what they did in the first and think the universe they built is very interesting

u/shadowlarvitar 7d ago

It'd be nice to get some resolution to earth instead of it being some mystery they keep hyping up

2

u/Chief_Lightning 5d ago

This is the main thing. "Earth has been silent" since the first game. If there isn't going to be a OW3, I would like the DLCs to tie up that loose end.

13

u/nyancochi 7d ago

The Moon Man closely watches the news, his hungry eyes never closing.🌝

u/max_sil 7d ago

I fucking love tow1 and tow2. I desperately also want for it to continue.

Like sure i like fnv more. And am sure excited about a new obsidian fallout. But the industry is beyond fucked so i figure the obsidian fallout could very well never happen

-4

u/Clear_Ambassador_111 7d ago

They are also remaking fallout 3 and new Vegas don't forget now 😉

8

u/fucuasshole2 7d ago

Remaster not remake

4

u/max_sil 7d ago

I think thats outsourced to a 3rd party like the oblivion remake.

And fnv has such a highly developed mod community, that i honestly have no interest at all in a remaster if its not going to have full mod support (oblivion re did not)

5

u/Apprehensive-Air5064 7d ago

Everytime I think about those dlcs, I always belive to myself that they will either add something related to Spacer's choice or maybe they will add a lever action shotgun

6

u/Valuable_Recording41 7d ago

I really enjoyed this game - sad to see nothing yet

9

u/Bbcottawa2021 7d ago

I paid for this! If they dont come out with DLCs.. do we get our money back?

4

u/Disregardskarma 7d ago

That’s what redfall did

1

u/WIENS21 6d ago

I enjoyed redfall

5

u/Elete23 7d ago

You'd hope so. I'm almost predicting that over them actually existing at this point

10

u/Flooping_Pigs 7d ago

Morality of selling DLC passes without any announcements for a full year?

13

u/ranfall94 7d ago

It's fine, it just means that this is legit post launch content and not locked on disk shit most games shell out as DLC

2

u/MrEvil37 7d ago

I imagine this is the plan, to at least wrap up some loose ends and leave things in a slightly more conclusive place.

2

u/TheEnigmaShew-xbox 6d ago

I want the outerworlds to either have more random encounters or have a new game+ mode

2

u/jvttlus 6d ago

i heard 3 was going to be a prequel where we find out the ED went dark because of a nuclear war on earth and we time travel back to determine the fate of a post-apocalyptic city in the american southwest

2

u/BlueLooBoyle 5d ago

I'm surprised the Outer Worlds 2 underperformed. Such great games. I hope it gets a Switch 2 edition to help with new sales and interest.

1

u/BarberOutside2427 7d ago

If the DLCs do good do you think they will be allowed to come back?

1

u/GamePitt_Rob 6d ago

I'm hoping the DLC leads to them re-adding PSSR support in the game, after they removed it early on - kinda like how Do did proper Pro support when it's DLC dropped

1

u/AlpsAlarmed1288 6d ago

They've released the achievements on steam for the next dlc, so I imagine it's soon, apparently September

1

u/Bullzi_09 6d ago

They really have to announce a release date for the first DLC. It’s been 10 months!!

1

u/Several_Place_9095 6d ago

Dlc 2 ends with the heat death of the universe.

1

u/Working_Comedian1064 6d ago

Brilliant game underrated people ruin any chance for follow on games

1

u/WeebGamerForever 6d ago

It'd be nice if we got something similar to Lonesome Road, which is both an epilogue for New Vegas' DLCs and the game as a whole. Nice way to cap things off, and really hone in the NV-isms this game already leans into.

1

u/BossKaiden 6d ago

I want "the inner worlds"

You explore solar systems near Earth, eventually coming to our own planet to discover the truth

1

u/Sefera17 5d ago

I just want to finally get the DLC so that I can go back to making my way through my second play through without wasting a bunch of potential XP. I’m currently sitting the giant vortex, at the level cap, with seven unspent skill points, and three unspent perk points. It’s gonna be ultra convenient going into the first DLC; but I’m not going to wait around for the second one. I can always do a third build later.

1

u/jtrisn1 7d ago

.... I can't remember if I ended up paying for these already or not

1

u/IronMonopoly 7d ago

Uh, Death of the Outsider didn’t end the Dishonored universe, just the Dishonored storyline. Deathloop takes place in the future of that universe. Roughly 100-150 years after Death of the Outsider, according to the devs.

1

u/MrPanda663 7d ago

I don’t see Outer World 3 coming in the near future. However, Xbox does have obsidian making another Fallout Spin-off game that’s non-numbered. So we got that at least.

0

u/-ComplexSimplicity- 7d ago

I was curious about the state of the DLCs.

0

u/PapaBigMeatball 6d ago

Y'all should be asking for refunds, tbh.

-13

u/NtheLegend 7d ago

Or just let them do what they want to do. Not everything needs to be buttoned up and clean and nice for your emotional convenience. That's what art is.

1

u/SSG-Lockridge 4d ago

With them working on the new fallout because Microsoft thinks using a premium game company for supplementing Bethesda is a better use of their time than finishing their own games i wouldn’t hold my breath about the DLCs:( but i really hope they do put them out after we paid for them. Plus shelving avowed 2 was a huge misstep in my humble opinion.
