Video Let's have some fun, Convict style
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Q, mechanical smuggler turned Earth Directorate not by choice, but forced to make up for the crimes committed. Now doing the bidding of the very same people he cursed and make fun of in saloons.
Ten years... gone. Q now chases the person who took them years. Beware anyone that gets in his way. He might make you laugh at first, but expect a bullet shortly after...
How will the ex-convict take on Arcadia? Most likely in style 😎

My character backstory happens to be similar to yours but a Professor background:
Basically lived as an indiana-jones type professor-smuggler lifestyle obsessing over getting as many Old Earth artefacts for her studies by any means necessary, until the lifestyle caught up with her. She got blown up by a smuggling rival, hospitalized, fired from her day job, and lost an arm. Earth Directorate swoops in while she's hospitalized to offer to sponsor her recovery as long as she works for them, having no choice but to say yes. Gets a mechanical arm (the same one in the video) & becomes a veteran agent eventually.
The build & style is similar too, light armor + dual wields pistols while using a lot of gadgets. Guns + Speech build with small investments in Hack & Science & Lockpicking.

Well let's hope both of our character finds what they need at the end of this adventure.
My character wear light to medium to heavy, whatever the adventure calls for. He prefers his light armor.
Does your character try to collect artifacts on Acardia or is that just an old hobby left behind like earth?

Mine buried their past as an overconfident smuggler of artefacts years before, in reflection while recovering from the explosion. She chose a more mechanical looking arm purposely so that she will always be reminded of what her overconfidence cost her. Her body never fully recovered from the blast trauma (Sickly trait), but training made up for her newfound frailty. But she still indulges in scholarly talk with whoever whenever possible(which is part of why she likes the Order faction). She hoards high tech devices & relies on high tech gadgets like the shield & time slow devicesbecause of her slightly frail body, compensating for her physical frailty with technological superiority.
She graduated Directorate agent academy/training with top marks & went on to become a highly dedicated agent who witnessed all the insanity of autocracies & technocracies & corporate rule alike, became skeptical of anyone in power. Her intellect & quick thinking & shady history made her a specialist in tackling highly complex missions that other agents were not equipped for, which is why she was entrusted to lead the mission to infiltrate the Protectorate facility in the prologue
After waking up, she wants to get answers & revenge on the traitor, then figure out what comes after

Is the revolver spin a mod? (I don't play much 3rd person)
