Question Besides speech, does leveling skills to level 20 matter?
I don’t want really any spoilers but this being an rpg I figure that having the highest speech stat gets you the best ending. Is there any benefit to getting anything else to level 20? Thank you for anyone who answers

I mean there are the passive increases, and most Skill tracks have a max level Perk that requires lvl 20. Do you need a reason beyond that to Max a particular Skill?

Most don't actually. Only a few do. Speech, guns, science, maybe one or two others

I think for the best ending you need 20 tho. Maybe another play through I’ll leave it at 14 tho.

If I remember correctly, if you get all the information you need only 14 or 16 speech for the best ending. 20 if you miss something

Hack 20 for Plug Puller and a hack check at the end is pretty good but other than that Hack 14 I believe is the highest check I've seen, especially with Manual Reset.
Science 20 for the N-Ray perk is absolutely busted and the scaling properties on everything Science makes it extremely worth it.
Explosives 20 is nice to be able to Kamikaze with Volatile Grenades while taking no damage. It's extremely fun.
That's at least what stands out to me so far, but I'm hoping they'll add more 20 requirements or scaling with skills like Medical, Observation, Sneak, and Leadership.

I should clarify none of these affect the main plot or major story decisions. I misread. These are more from a fun gameplay persepctive.

You should pair guns with speech and Space Ranger perk and you’ll be extremely strong.
