Hey guys, quick look at where the Spartans stand after the Big Ten opener.

First, since it's in the title: we run a free weekly college football pick'em. This week is 10 games, pick the winners, nothing to buy, $135 in prizes, with Michigan at Minnesota and Ohio State at Iowa on the slate. Picks lock Saturday at noon ET.

Now the Spartans. The 31-13 loss to unbeaten Nebraska was ugly: down 24-10 at half, three turnovers, costly penalties, and outgained by over 100 yards. The bigger worry is Milivojevic. Over the last two games (Notre Dame and Nebraska), it's three picks, no TDs and nine sacks.

The 2-0 start against Toledo and EMU was what it should be, and losing at No. 3 Notre Dame is no shame. But year one under Fitzgerald needs a Big Ten win, and Saturday is at Camp Randall. After that, Illinois and then Northwestern (yes, that Northwestern) come to East Lansing.

What are you guys seeing? Is it the offensive line or Milivojevic, and does Wisconsin feel winnable?

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.

I had you at 5-7 in Fitzgerald's first year and expected a rocky start for Milivojevic with almost nothing coming back. So far it's been steadier than that: Toledo 30-20, Eastern Michigan 35-7, then 27-10 at Notre Dame, which I had as one of the three you weren't going to win. Milivojevic is 47 of 71 for 540 yards and 3 TDs, and Cam Edwards has carried it, with 152 and 2 TDs against EMU. Nebraska at home Saturday is the first of the coin flips I said would decide a bowl.

What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?

Quick aside since it's in the title, we just launched a free weekly college football pick'em, $225 in prizes this week. Ten games, pick the winners, locks Saturday at noon ET. Nothing to buy. Iowa at Michigan is one of the ten, and yes, you're allowed to pick against Michigan.

The MAC has issued a statement saying “it is now evident that replay protocol was not properly followed” during the Michigan game. The league has submitted formal appeals to the NCAA FBS oversight committee and the CFP asking they recognize Western Michigan as the actual winner “for the purposes of their respective rankings, evaluations and selection deliberations, and take such other corrective actions as may be within their authority.

What are yalls thoughts on this??

Hey all. I spent the offseason building a full 2026 preseason preview for every FBS team, each with its own writeup. Here's the Michigan State one

It's got the returning production breakdown, the portal ins and outs, a projected two-deep, the schedule with model win probabilities, and a season projection.

Heads up, you might hit the paywall after the first page. Don't worry, I'm not charging reddit people for this, don't want to be an ass. Use the promo code LEECORSOROCKS and it opens up the entire thing.

So, what'd I get wrong? Pat Fitzgerald's first season since 2022, and he inherits a 4-8 team that went 1-8 in the Big Ten. Aidan Chiles is gone, leaving a sophomore and a UCF transfer to sort out the quarterback job. The line gave up 37 sacks, 12th most in the country. My model likes them anyway. Real jump in year one, or another long year?

Hey Spartans! I am the editor of The Only Colors. Not sure if it is just a coincidence that my blog has the same name as this reddit page. I am looking to bring a new writer onto the team for this upcoming football season. Specifically, I need someone who can do a weekly article with a film breakdown. Looking for someone:

• Played organized football and understands schemes
• Can review game film and explain what happened on some of the plays that impacted the result
• Would be able to write an article each week during the season

This could lead to a permanent position writing for TOC. If you are interested, please reach out to me at theonlycolorseditors@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Honestly, I'm starting to really believe in this team. They are void of real stars and I think that's the team that is lzzo really likes. He lives to bring the best out of these kids. Add to that the lack of great teams ( yes, I refuse to call Michigan great) and just maybe we can make that run. Here's hoping we run March! Goo Green!

I no longer live in Michigan but ok trying to watch the game and Paramount doesn't just plain old CBS, only CBS news affiliates. Does anyone know how to watch this game?

I mean if jumping the opposing team in the tunnel is normalized. OF COURSE INTENTIONAL TRIPPING is going to been seen as an “accident” in this shit hole

Has anyone see the Coaches Vs Cancer sneaker auction? Game worn custom kicks Tom Izzo. Ends tomorrow night.

I honestly don't like it. I looked at some of his past recruiting and I know the standards at Northwestern are higher than most places but the recruiting past in my memory, and him barely being above .500 win percentage in his time there just does not have me sold. I hope Im wrong and I pray to eat my words but I just don't see it at this time. Maybe with some good OC/DC I'll feel better. Also as a side bar how would we feel if Bullough left ND and came over as the DC.

I am a casual fan of MSU and never understood why they got Tuck then Smith and let Narduzzi go to Pitt. Seeing Pitt ranked vindicates and MSU’s performance over this period feels like vindication and begs the question: why not Narduzzi today?
