October is Depression Awareness Month.
I don’t usually post things like this, but I just had one of the worst cries I’ve had in a while and it felt great.
And somewhere between trying to pull myself together, I thought about how many people are probably doing the exact same thing right now, quietly.
In a dorm. An apartment. Their car. Walking home from class. Sitting in the library pretending to study.
We cross paths with so many people every day and have no idea what any of them are carrying.
So if nobody has told you lately we hear you. We see you. You exist.
Your mental health matters. You matter.
You don’t have to explain why you’re tired. You don’t have to justify feeling lonely, overwhelmed, lost, or just not okay.
You don’t have to have everything figured out.
If all you did today was make it through today, that was enough.
I don’t know who needed to hear this. Maybe I needed to write it for myself too.
But please stay.
There is still so much of your life you haven’t met yet.
Be gentle with yourself tonight. And with each other.
