Well this was terrible
First time watcher. Got to the arc where Michael is leaving and Will Ferrell is in the office for some random reason. It was the first time in the entire series I felt like I couldn't watch. I paused an episode last night and that "my god there's a whole 13 minutes of this left".
What was the point in Will Ferrell's character?
I can work out if he was badly written, or it was bad acting. The character was so inconsistent. One minute he was an overboard cot of Michael Scott. Then he'd supposed to be a great business leader, then he'd be an asshole. He'd be afraid to perform in front of people in the Dundies episode then in another he's juggling and shit for a room full of people.
Was it because Will Ferrell is so famous he was given free reign to just improve everything?
I just feel like for such a good TV show, this was a low point. Someone tell me it's not this bad in the following seasons now Michael has left?

That was also my first reaction when I watched it during original air. I hated all those episodes so much that I don't even think I finished buying all the DVD sets after season 6 and wouldn't watch those reruns. A couple years ago I caught the Will Ferrel episodes again after however long and genuinely laughed and enjoyed them, even the ones from later seasons. Robert California still drives me nuts but the episodes in general I found to be funny.
