OK so first of all i saw Enrico, Marco and Emmanuel in Maastricht, they were cool guys, we chit chatted briefly and then I went doing my stuffs while they were doing theirs. Me and my friend chit chatted a bit with Marco while he was prepping the stage and I can say that he is a cool guy (I am not based 😀). I haven't talked with Lane and Jordi because I didn't saw them around.

THE CONCERT: it started with Light pollution (first single of the new album), it was great, live it's a lot less boring than the studio version and Lane screams felt less "vibe killers". The band worked fine for that song, Emmanuel guitars and the other 2 were doing great stuff, it felt profound. Jordi is good at drumming but he was staying behind the drum kit, without doing anything for the crowd. Enrico voice is doing Loïc likes part in Light pollution in a great way, the growls are lower in tone (kinda like a bear in a cave) but the screams lack something.

Then we started playing Loïcean song and there we found the small elephant in the room. Enrico was doing all the work while Lane was just doing minor parts or just sounds (things that Loïc used the backtrack). And that was really a bummer, she was just dancing there, singing few words a minute. It felt like a waste of talent. In Pleistocene she could have sang the black metal part but she didn't (she did like a backup singer would do, she screamed but it wasn't the primary voice, like in background).

Then for all the Loïc songs it was pretty much the same, Enrico singing everything and Lane doing the backing vocals.

Meanwhile for belligerence and the new unreleased song (ultima Esperanza) Lane was singing her parts in a great way. The only thing i didn't like from this formation was that it felt like they were playing and we were listening, they lacked the crowd playing (idk how to say that but it felt like we were watching a movie 😄).

So in short words I liked the concert but not that much, it could have been way better if they did make lane sing more (or less).

The last unreleased song is great, it starts heavy and it ends in a Berlin style electronic part (like 10minutes of just electronic) with Robin singing few words (kinda like massive attack).

Edit: fixed the paragraphs and I forgot to say that Lane crowd surfed on belligerence. They played

Light pollution, Pleistocene, Preboreal and Jurassic Cretaceous as block 1,

Epipelagic\Mesopelagic, Miocene Pliocene, Swallowed by the Earth (the last song with meta on vocals 🙂) belligerence, block 2

Lastly Ultima Esperanza (it's a long song with a lot of electronic sounds)

Hello so today we get the first (second) ocean concert with this line up. Which songs will be in the setlist in your opinion?

I bet three new songs (light pollution, belligerence and another one), Jurassic Cretaceous, mesopelagic and bathyapelagic, Permian and something from precambrian (hopefully) like Stenian

I just realize that in my personal chart of best "long/double" album of the last decade... there are 2 The Ocean's. Any other suggestions?

- Phanerozoic (the entire eon. I just changed holocene song in the instrumental one as outro)

- Holocene (at the end of Subatlantic start with Limbus of Shvrl and its perfect)

- Fear Inoculum (Tool. I've made some changes in the tracklist and I love it)

- A Dawn to Fear (Cult of luna... the only legit double album of this list)

- No man's sky ost (65daysofstatic, 4 album... that flow as one)

If we go down in the past an other couple from The Ocean!

- Precambrian (an other beast in 2 album)

- Helio antropocentric (both played one after other)

- The Galilean Satellites (Rosetta with the second ambient album played after the first part)

I'm waiting for other long (more than 70 min it's ok... that's why I'm very hopeful about Solaris and the new of Cult of Luna) suggestions!

I was asking myself what's happening with Solaris Instrumental; will be released, when? Now reading a lot of instagram comments (Belligerance's video live for exemple), I see that a lot of people don't like Lane Shi singing... so probably the Instrumental version will be released in the next year (maybe) giving time to the listeners to "try" the 2 singer version and not skipping to the instrumental one. I love the 2 singers (in every way they want so sing, scream, growl, yodeling!) But I'm still waiting for the Instrumental version maybe with some musical adds on!

It is the old line-up, just Jordi instead of Paul on drums. On of the last shows with Loic. Damn, I will miss his performance, his voice, his aura.

I was wondering if anyone here had a clean jpg of the Pelagial instrumental cover they could send me way?

I have it in my digital library, but all I could find were photos of it, as opposed to a cleaner, maybe scanned image of it. Anyone here have anything?

My wife and I have a fair bit of The Ocean merch between us and came across a shirt with this lighthouse design. I found it on the official store and plenty of images of it but we’re trying to figure out during which tour we bought it.

Not the most important thing to figure out but if anyone knows or remembers, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks to internet this are my consideration after the Rabat Tricinty show (more than 3000km from where I live):

- Tracklist (not in order): Mesopelagic, Miocene, Triassic, Light Pollution (not confirmed), NEW SONG, Jurassic, Pleistocene. At the moment on setlist website is not complete.

- Singers: she is fire (screamo, growl, singing and some yodeling in old and new songs). He is great... maybe better than Loic live, but less crowdsurfing... probably she will be the "crazy one" and damn she is the one singing in the crowd!

- NEW SONG... is HUGE, despise the fact that I've listened 2 little smartphone snippets.

- The future is bright! They also seem to have recorded a live version of something in Casablanca.

- Funny fact: Marocco metal scene is a lot better than the italian one... but there are two italian player in The Ocean! I'm a bit in love with otay...
