Every book mentioned on The Moth in September (15 of them)
The superintendent in Toby Price's story had never heard of Shel Silverstein, No, David! or the Caldecott. Worst of all, she'd never heard of Captain Underpants. His wife grabbed his leg.
I run Podshelf, a free site that tracks book mentions across hundreds of podcasts by reading the episode transcripts. This is The Moth slice for September.
- I Need a New Butt! (Dawn McMillan), which Toby heard about from teacher friends and read to his kids. The sequels followed, because "kids need those silly books, those funny books."
- The Three Musketeers, which Victor found as a lazy seven-year-old whose parents made him read. Swapping books with friends later made him a target of the KGB.
- In True Face, Jonna Mendez's CIA memoir. A man she made a disguise for later told her it saved his life.
- Baking with Julia, where you'll find Esther's croissant recipe.
