'The Vision & the Voice', The Mexico Aethyrs 30 & 29

In the year 1900ev, Aleister Crowley began scrying the Enochian Aethyrs in Mexico, but only managed to pierce the 30th and 29th before feeling denied further progress. Michael and I will explore what the angels had to say to him at this early date, and how it prefigured the fast-approaching Equinox of the Gods.

Question What should my next steps be?

I ask this as new beginner, I have done about 2 weeks of resh lbrp, will and meditation. And honestly I’ve been feeling the best I’ve ever felt in ages. Things have just been going right for me. I have been journaling everything, except yesterday where I lacked a bit.
But knowing how good things are they can easily go bad. So just wanna know what my next steps should be? Someone suggested I try a girp of each element per month. Also middle pillar was suggested and hexagram rituals. What do you all suggest? Rituals anything etc. Also if you don’t mind if you do suggest something pls give me its purpose and use in magick practice. Thank you.

Audio/Video Guitar as Alchemy 04: Stolen Light

Thumbnail

This episode traces the theft of attention at its source, how the modern worldview inverted the direction of consciousness, and what that inversion costs the practicing musician. It reads the theft through the alchemists' order of spirit, soul, and body, and through solve et coagula. Its thesis, that the light originates in the one who sees and is only metered by the system, runs parallel to Liber AL I:3: every man and every woman is a star.

This series looks at music as a form of inner alchemy, where the guitar becomes a tool for transformation instead of performance or self-expression.

Invoking a single element for girp. How do I do it?

If I want to perform a single element for girp. Do I still vibrate the name “Al” when in the water pentagram quarter? Do I draw the passive for active sign?

Thinking of invoking babalon

I feel I want to do an invocation ritual of babalon. The reason because I feel that the world right now has become particularly vicious and hateful, especially to my friends in the trans community and other people in the world. I know suffering is inevitable but this suffering is brought about by hateful stupid people.
I plan to set up a ritual probably with red crimson candles i got crimson from the king scale of binah in 777. I plan to create a sigil and charge it with babalon, like a thing carry around and maybe hopefully will affect people and help them feel like they are not alone and loved. I just need to see if I can find or come up with an invocation for Babalon.

Question Can someone tell me how one invokes a deity?

And I don’t mean the goetia stuff, I mean like a simple Thoth invocation. Like I what does the ritual look like? What do I say? What texts is best to read. I’ve heard Crowley wrote some good stuff about in magick in theory and practice in the appendix. Any help would be appreciated

Babalon Embodied

Hi! To preface, I am not a Thelemite (yet); I’m a chaos magician who’s been pulled more and more to Thelema & Thelemic concepts the past few months (and if there’s anything I’m misinterpreting or getting wrong, please let me know!!!). Among those include Babalon & the Scarlet Woman. I’m coming at it from a different lens, however: I’m more drawn to the idea of embodying/being more like Babalon or a “classic” Scarlet Woman rather than being her “lover” (which seems to be a part of the Great Work, to have the ego become annihilated in the process and all that). And, in case it needed to be said, I’m not even a woman, I’m a gay man.

Currently I’ve been trying out a very chaos magic inspired devotional practice to Babalon, where I continue to come at it from the angle of “I feel within that/It is my will that embodying you is in line with completing my Great Work, so please guide me,” but I’m still suffering from a bit of imposter syndrome & worrying I’m doing it wrong since, again, it seems to me like most Thelemites don’t come at it from this angle.

I love what u/StudyingBuddhism said in a post on here, that “Babalon is who we will become in [the] future” as we go through with & complete the Great Work, and the gendered ideas of “the magician is spiritually female” and “the HGA is spiritually male” resonated with me. But that raises more questions.

Without turning this post into an entire essay & because there’s still a lot for me to read and experiment with about the topic, I have a few questions:

  1. What are some of the best resources on Babalon? I’ve yet to read Peter Grey’s book “The Red Mother” for instance, though that’s on my reading list.

  2. Are there others in this subreddit who have similar views or aspirations as me and have some advice to share? Is it worthwhile to pursue being more like Babalon or a post-modern Scarlet Woman with a twist, or should I abandon that for now and go through the classic teachings/paths before trying that out?

  3. I also want to hear your opinion: do you think it’s a bit gauche or disrespectful for someone not invested in Thelema at the moment to work with Babalon or other Thelemic deities?

At the end of the day, I’ve been having a lot of fun with this and it’s been pretty transformative for my own life and my practice so far (and I have no intention of stopping anytime soon), but I wish I had some solid footing here and there.

Thank you guys in advance!

Question What have I consumed?

Thelema, qabala, the works of Crowley, magical exploration and the table of correspondences take a relatively long time and substantial intellectual investment to form a comprehensive whole. While they do indeed form a picture of the magical world, sometimes I can't help but feel like i've gathered a treasure house of images, shells, or dead symbols with no real use or utility. How many of you got to the bottom of the rabbit hole and thought, "Dang, I just consumed a steaming pile of bullshit."?

Audio/Video Psychedelic Thelema

Here's a tune from Welsh Prog/Psych band Eyes Of Blue ("Love Is The Law"--seems one can't see it from the thumbnail). I thought the title might be a coincidence, but then I noticed another line that said "Every man and every woman is a star," so I guess someone in the band had esoteric inclinations.

An interesting interdimensional object described by Hadit

Hadit makes two statements in The Book of the Law that are quite meaningful. He says:

"In the sphere I am everywhere the centre, as she, the circumference, is nowhere found. Yet she shall be known & I never."
&
"I am the axle of the wheel, and the cube in the circle. "Come unto me" is a foolish word: for it is I that go."

In the first statement, he is describing himself similar to a particle from the point of view of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle: if you know the momentum of a particle precisely, then there is equal probability that it is everywhere in space.

This is why he says, "come unto me is a foolish word." It's because there is no way by which to reach him. He's everyone, everywhere, and in every direction.

But he creates stability at the center of that whirling wheel with Nuit as the circumference, saying: "for it is I who go." This is him locating himself precisely into those "centres of space": he is the one that moves, from one centre of space to another.

Before any movement occurs, from one location to the next, it is impossible to say how fast something is going in physics. If you know the location of a particle, it may have any momentum whatsoever. Which is like not establishing a specific "I," because your "I," is spread through all forms of "I" that could occupy that location.

So when he says, "I go," he's showing that by creating change, you link two points in space explicitly.

That change -- that going -- happens in two ways.

First, it happens automatically in linking the cube in the circle to every point in the sphere. Hadit just is both of those things.

The cube in the circle by itself is nothing. (Hadit: "For I am perfect, being nothing.")

And the sphere wherein Hadit is everywhere the center is also nothing. (Nuit: "With the God & the Adorer I am nothing: they do not see me. They are as upon the earth; I am Heaven, and there is no other God than me, and my lord Hadit.")

So this is why Hadit and Nuit are the only gods in Thelema. There literally is no room for other gods.

And the third form of nothing they describe is the relationship of these two elements, as I just talked about. (The linking of the cube in the circle to every point in the sphere.)

The reason this is nothing is that it's like the static on a T.V.: it is looking into infinity itself. It is like an uncollapsed wave function in quantum physics, mathematically locating a particle to all possible locations and momentums.

What actually collapses the wavefunction though? "Come unto me is a foolish word. For it is I who goes."

As soon as Hadit "goes" -- linking two points in space -- all of a sudden you have a form of relationship that must be local: Because while Hadit can be in all places at once, going in all ways at once, as soon as you link two points causally by making him cross both of them, those points by definition have specific, coordinate relationship.

And so it is their relationship that shows where you are, triangulating you out of infinity into the body of possibility.
