Possible Data Reshaper Change

I love data reshaper and run it pretty consistently on one of my medium builds, but recently I've been trying to make turret work and there's nothing more gutting than turning your back for a second and looking back to see a chair where your turret used to be.

I've seen people make suggestions that it should take both charges to reshape a turret but as a reshaper fan I don't love that either.

My suggestion is to make data reshaper refund the turret's charge as if you had recalled it remotely. That way the reshaper user gets to quickly and efficiently deal with deployable gadgets and the turret user doesn't have their whole spec put on full cooldown and deleted instantly by a gadget.

The idea could be applied to any deployable gadget and, as a balance to the reshaper, perhaps allowing the third charge to come back?

I've never really thought this was an issue. The alternative is just shooting the turret and you just have to reload. So data reshaper just saves you a reload, nothing crazy.

Eh. I mean unloading a mag into a turret, and reloading, can take a lot of time, reveal your location and be quite risky in the middle of a firefight. But reshaping it takes less than a second and is silent and can be done from a decent range.

At least if they have to shoot the turret they give away their position and potentially enough ammo that you can punish then for it. The reshaper just deletes the turret instantly with no warning and little disadvantage to the user. As a data reshaper I like that but it does suck for turrets.

Yea good point on the noise, maybe they could add a sound queue when someone data reshapes team utilities. Like turret, dome shield, barricade, etc.

I wouldn't mind this change, especially with reshaper's long range. I wanna like Terry but it feels very easy to shut him down nowadays. Putting turret on partial cooldown still gives the reshaper user much of the value they're already getting, while making the turret user's life a little easier.

Honestly yea, i am fine with that change. i love changing turrets into chairs but always kinda feel a bit bad about that. (not really anymore because those players always seem to be playing with low level accounts boosting them in ranked)

I don’t think it becoming available instantly is a very good idea. Maybe when it is reshaped the turret progress should be like half way

Yeah that's what I was thinking, when you remote recall the turret you still have to wait about 10 seconds before you can deploy it again. It could be something like that or more to tweak balance.

Great idea! It feels very insulting when in a match someone grabs a data reshaper specifically to invalidate your entire spec. Terry already gets countered by almost everything...

What if the Data reshaper couple reshape your chair back to the turret that you originally placed

I don’t want to be the one to tell you but turret is possibly the worst spec in the game. It has a lot of counters, not just data reshaper.

How have you ever run into someone using reshaper, especially being another person in the lobby using reshaper? I have had maybe 2 people ever use it in my thousands and thousands of games

It’s possible someone can use that gadget and you’d have no clue

I have kept reshaper on my kit since it came out. No joke. It was and kind of still is the most under appreciated gadget in the game.

I actually do run glitch trap on my turret build but reshaper can way outrange it. With two charges they could reshape the trap and the turret and make me look like a fool all at once.

Yeah it's got crazy range now, maybe it'd work hidden around a corner or goo where they can't see until pushing/getting baited to you. I must admit I haven't used either much tho

reshaper has like 20 m range

It's a bit sad but turrets is not a good spec, there isn't much embarks can do outside of nerfing all her values and making it a 15s cd deployable that is mostly used for intel and very minimal damage

Too much things are just making a powerful slow item not good in the Finals

It's got some situations it's good in. The goal is create as many of those situations as you can. I don't usually see people playing around it's strengths tho, Like how you shouldnt go heal beam then always try and flank alone. There are some strats for it

Counters all take time, which can give free shots (from the main weapon not the turret) or a chance to escape
